Arsenal and Chelsea have joined London rivals Tottenham in the race to sign £15m-rated Norwich City defender Max Aarons this summer

The January transfer window is closed but managers are still looking ahead to the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal and Chelsea join Tottenham in the race for Max Aarons…

Arsenal and Chelsea have joined London rivals Tottenham in the race to sign £15m-rated Norwich City defender Max Aarons this summer, according to the Mirror.

Aarons came through the youth system at Luton Town before joining Norwich in 2014 and the right-back progressed through the ranks before breaking in to the first team set-up at the start of this season.

The 19-year-old has been outstanding this campaign with his superb performances down the right helping Norwich maintain their promotion push back to the Premier League with the Cannaries currently sitting top of the Championship table.

Tottenham have been strongly linked with a move for Aarons in recent months with the Mirror claiming Mauricio Pochettino has sent scouts to make regular checks on the talented defender.

The newspaper says Spurs were keen to sign Aarons in January and even agreed to send the youngster back on loan to Carrow Road for the rest of the season as part of any deal.

However, a transfer wasn’t agreed before the window closed last week as Norwich boss Daniel Farke is determined to keep hold of Aarons and wants the player to be a key part of team in the Premier League next season.

Tottenham are expected to renew their interest in the summer but the Mirror suggests they’ll face stiff competition from Arsenal and Chelsea with their London rivals also in the running to sign Aarons.

Arsenal are expected to be in the market for a new right-back this summer with Stephan Lichtsteiner set to leave when his contract expires in June so Unai Emery could be eyeing Aarons as a long-term replacement.

Chelsea could also be on the look out for another right-back as Davide Zappacosta has been tipped for a move back to Italy after failing to establish himself at Stamford Bridge and it appears Aarons is also on their radar.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months but the Mirror claims Norwich have slapped a £15m price-tag on the player’s head so the likes of Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea won’t be able to snap him up on the cheap.
