Liverpool join Arsenal & Tottenham in battle to sign exciting £12m attacker

Liverpool have joined the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham in the battle to sign highly-rated Leeds United attacker Jack Clarke ahead of the summer

The January transfer window is closed but managers are still looking ahead to the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool join the race for Jack Clarke….

Liverpool have joined Arsenal and Tottenham in the battle to sign highly-rated Leeds United attacker Jack Clarke ahead of the summer, according to the Mirror.

Clarke is a product of the Leeds youth system having joined the club as a child and he progressed through the ranks to emerge as one of the most exciting youngsters to be playing outside of the Premier League.

The 18-year-old starred for the U23’s before breaking in to the first team set-up last year and Clarke is now an established part of Marcelo Bielsa’s squad having featured in each of Leeds’ last 13 Championship games.

The teenage star has provided 2 goals and 2 assists during those appearances and his potential has alerted Premier League clubs as the Daily Mail reported recently that Arsenal and Tottenham are battling over the £12m-rated winger.

Spurs were strongly linked throughout the January transfer window while Arsenal have emerged as serious contenders for Clarke’s signature during more recent times but it looks as though the north Londoners will face further competition.

That’s because the Mirror are reporting that Liverpool have joined Arsenal and Tottenham in the race to sign Clarke with Jurgen Klopp now also eyeing a summer swoop to sign the talented attacker.

The newspaper says Liverpool scouts have been keeping a close eye on the teenagers progress and have sent back positive reports to Klopp so the Reds boss is now considering a move when the window re-opens in July.

Liverpool already have a fearsome attack but Klopp knows he needs to add more depth to the squad if they’re to compete on all fronts next season and Clarke – who can play on either wing – would be a useful addition if he ended up at Anfield.

Obviously the youngster wouldn’t be ready to start regularly for the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal or Tottenham just yet as he’d need time to develop further, however, he looks to have a huge future ahead of him so it’s no wonder so many big clubs are lining-up to sign Clarke this summer.
