Liverpool have put one foot in the semi-finals of the Champions League after easing to a 2-0 first leg victory over Porto at Anfield this evening.

The visitors started reasonably well as they enjoyed plenty of possession inside the first few minutes but it was Liverpool who opened the scoring with their first attack of the game.

Roberto Firmino found Naby Keita in the fifth minute and the Guinean international saw his effort from 15 yards fly into the top corner via a deflection off Porto defender Militao.

Liverpool doubled their lead midway through the first half as Jordan Henderson found Trent Alexander-Arnold with a inch-perfect pass behind the Porto defence and the full-back’s cross found Roberto Firmino who made no mistake for 2-0 in the 26th minute.

Liverpool dominated for much of the game and had chances to further extend their lead but had to settle for a 2-0 win which puts them firmly in control heading in to the second leg in Portugal next week.
