[Video goals] Arsenal 2-3 Crystal Palace: Ozil stunner not enough as Gunners crash

Arsenal blew a golden chance to go third in the Premier League table after losing 3-2 to Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon.

We started poorly and were made to pay for giving away too many dangerous free-kicks around the box when Christian Benteke was allowed to head home unchallenged from 6 yards to give Palace the lead in the 17th minute.

Arsenal should have had a penalty in the 37th minute when Aaron Wan-Bissaka blocked a Sead Kolasinac cross with his hand inside the area but the officials didn’t give it.

Unai Emery made two changes at the break with Alex Iwobi and Ainsley Maitland-Niles coming on and it made an immediate difference as we drew level in the 48th minute when Mesut Ozil scored with a superb finish at the near post after being found by Alexandre Lacazette.

Just as we were pushing on to take the lead, a shocking piece of defending from Shkodran Mustafi gifted Palace another goal as Wilfried Zaha raced clear to make it 2-1 and more woeful defending from a corner lead to the visitors making it 3-1 in the 69th minute.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang pulled one back with a lovely goal as he fired home from the edge of the area to make it 2-3 in the 77th minute but we couldn’t find an equaliser to slump to a hugely disappointing defeat that leaves us fourth in the table – level on points with Chelsea.
