Arsenal vs Barca: Preview, Injury News & Predicted Line-up

arsenal news

Arsenal take on FC Barcelona mid-week in the champions League. Our opponents need no introduction and I am not going to bother writing about them.

Injury-News :

Sagna will not take part in the clash against Barça as he is suspended. Samir Nasri may play, although I wish he did not. Personally it’s ok if we go out of the champions league, with Sami fit rather than progress with Sami injured. Don’t say I am not a true Gooner. It’s just rational thinking! Tomas Rosicky most probably will not take part on Wednesday. Diaby has picked up another setback and will also not face Barca.

The rest of the list remains the same.

Probable Line-up :

Subs : Almunia, Gibbs, Squillaci, Denilson,( Rosicky/Nasri*), Nikko, Chamakh.

*most likely player to be on the bench.

Final thoughts :

It’s simple. A tempo which is fast. A tempo in which we can counterattack very quickly. Arshavin and Theo should not comeback for corners. They are fast players who can attack fast. Gijon drew with Barca on Saturday, and their tactic was to deploy fast counter-attacks because Barca usually play very wide at the back i.e. they play with 3 defenders. If we catch them with Milito facing Arshavin or Pique facing Theo we know who will win.

If you want a better illustration, you can go to Desi gunners Blog where the guy shows how much pressing we have to endure for Barcelona via the second goal against Wolves. Its a brilliant article!

Come on Arsenal, give us a match that will worth remembering (For us Gooners !)

PLEASE WHERE IS WILSHARE? Are we going to play ten against eleven? I will suggest, Nasri should replace Walcott. Walcott should enter for the second half when they must have been tired. He will then pass them with speed. Just hope there is someone that can replace Ebue. I dont trust him for this match. My team will be:

why dont we play Squillaci on the right instead of Eboue?
Eboue is more effective going forward not in a position to absorb pressure.
Anyway irrespective of who plays where, we are goingto beat Barcelona on wednesday. Mark my word.
Guys we don’t have to over rate Barcelona. They are as good as we are.

i think arsenal will suffer if the absorb the pressure as they did last season ..but if they play with confidence attacking Barcelona and going forward and also keeping in mind Barcelona contra attacks… they may become winners.

Our information should be 4-2-3-1. Ebue and Arshavin should not start the game, they should be replace with Squillaci and Rosicky. I believe we can do it!

surely eboue is the weakest link in defence (or the whole team) for this game. we have no proven alternative than playing him as right back. so a lot depends on how good he can absorb the catalan attacks.

on the pro side: he might be a bit better in the offensive department.

just hope he tries no stupid tricks when he should just clear the ball. just kick the freakin ball away man!!!

We need to play with two strikers up front Chamakh who holds the ball up very well and van Persie who can score with either foot ,with plenty crosses coming over from the flanks for Marouane to attack and put Alves,Busquets,Pique,Maxwell and whoever else is in Barcelona,s defence under big pressure and keep the ball from getting to Messi, simple tactics, can Arsenal of 2011 handle the home pre

We are the favorites in tomorrows game. nasri is back and and thomas too is back…. i think we gonna use nasri as a holding mild-feilder and use fabregas as a supporting attcker who will always feed the best scorer in arsenal( persie) to keep them in suspense….. insha Allah tomorrow is our day and we gonna win by 3 goals to nil…..
