Managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads during the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd have made an offer to Arsenal and Liverpool target Adrien Rabiot…
Manchester United have tabled a lucrative contract offer to Arsenal and Liverpool target Adrien Rabiot as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to land the PSG midfielder on a free transfer, according to reports in Spain via the Mirror.
Rabiot came through the youth ranks at PSG and has gone on to make 226 appearances for the first team but his future lies away from the Parc des Prince after failing to sign a new contract with the Ligue 1 champions.
The 24-year-old was frozen out of the first team by manager Thomas Tuchel in December after informing the club he intends to leave as a free agent this summer after refusing to sign an extension and the situation has alerted a whole host of top European clubs.
The Mirror claims Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool have all expressed their interest in luring Rabiot to the Premier League while Barcelona, Real Betis and Juventus are among those also chasing the talented midfielder.
Unai Emery desperately needs to revamp his squad following a disappointing campaign that saw Arsenal miss out on Champions League qualification and Rabiot could be viewed as a replacement for Aaron Ramsey – who’s joining Juventus.
Jurgen Klopp is also being tipped to strengthen his squad this summer and with James Milner coming towards the end of his career and Adam Lallana linked with a move away from Anfield, it seems the Liverpool boss is also eyeing Rabiot.
However, the Mirror are citing a report from Mundo Deportivo that claims Man Utd have made a lucrative offer to Rabiot and the French international is now mulling over the terms that have been put on the table.
The Spanish outlet says United have blown their rivals out of the water with a bumper contract and the Mirror suggests Rabiot is commanding wages of £175,000-a-week plus a signing on fee of around £10m.
Solskjaer is gearing up for a busy summer after United finished sixth in the table and Rabiot is likely to be viewed as a direct replacement for Ander Herrera – who coincidentally is being tipped to join PSG.
Obviously there is still time for the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool to table a rival offer but as it stands it looks like Man Utd are in a strong position to sign Rabiot and I think he’d be a superb free transfer signing if they could pull it off.
