Agent confirms Arsenal’s interest in signing 22-year-old Serie A star

The agent of Ionut Radu has confirmed Arsenal are keen on signing the Inter Milan goalkeeper this summer as Unai Emery looks to replace Petr Cech

Managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads during the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are linked with Ionut Radu…

The agent of Ionut Radu has confirmed Arsenal are among the clubs showing a keen interest in signing the Inter Milan goalkeeper this summer as Unai Emery looks to replace Petr Cech, according to the Mirror.

The Arsenal boss is gearing-up for a busy few months in the transfer market as he looks to overhaul the squad that finished fifth in the Premier League and was humbled 4-1 by Chelsea in the Europa League final last week.

A new goalkeeper is on the agenda as Cech will retire when his contract expires this month while David Opsina is expected to secure a permanent move away from the Emirates after enjoying a year on loan at Napoli this season.

Radu has emerged as a potential transfer target with reports suggesting the Inter stopper is on Emery’s radar and the 22-year-old’s agent has now confirmed Arsenal have recently expressed their interest.

However, the player’s representative, Crescenzo Cecere, says several other clubs including Lyon are keen on the Romanian so Arsenal may face stiff competition for his signature.

Cecere is quoted by the Mirror as saying:

“There are so many teams interested, including Lyon. Recently, there was also a survey from Arsenal.

“He is a very interesting prospect since he is growing a lot, from all points of view.”

Radu joined the Inter youth system in 2013 but he’s struggled to established himself at the San Siro and was sent out on loan to Genoa this season having made just 1 substitute appearance for the first team back in 2016.

The youngster has enjoyed his time at Genoa as he’s played regular first team football and kept six clean sheets in his 33 Serie A appearances while he’s also got 13 caps for the Romanian U23 side at international level.

Arsenal don’t have the money to go out and buy an established name to act as back-up for Bernd Leno next season and Radu should be available at a reasonable price if Inter Milan decide to cash-in this summer so he could be a decent bid of business for Arsenal.
