Manchester United are set to beat Liverpool and Tottenham to the signing of Bruno Fernandes after agreeing a deal to land the Sporting Lisbon attacker this summer, according to reports coming out of Italy.

Fernandes is one of the hottest talents in European football right now after enjoying a stunning campaign with Sporting that saw him contribute 32 goals and 18 assists in 53 games to earn a reputation as one of the most productive attackers in the world.

The 24-year-old has attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs with Portuguese outlet Record reporting late last week that Liverpool and Tottenham have joined Man Utd in the race to sign the midfielder this summer.

Fresh reports from Correiro de Manha , via the Daily Mail, suggest that Liverpool have edged ahead of their rivals in their pursuit of the £62m star as Fernandes is reportedly a fan of Jurgen Klopp’s playing style and would relish the chance to play under the German coach at Anfield.

The Portuguese publication says Tottenham are reluctant to push ahead with any deal for Fernandes until Christian Eriksen’s future is resolved and this indecision has seemingly opened the door for Liverpool.

However, conflicting reports coming out of Italy suggest that it’s Manchester United who are in pole position to sign Fernandes with journalist Pietro Balzano Porta claiming the Red Devils are closing in on a deal.

Porta – who works for Italian publication Sport Media Set – says United have an agreement in place to sign Fernandes and are now thrashing out the finer details, with a deal understood to be ‘very close’.

When asked for an update on Fernandes, Porta said:

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to be extremely busy this summer as he looks to overhaul a squad that finished sixth in the Premier League last season and United have already agreed a deal to sign Swansea City winger Daniel James.

However, Man Utd are also expected to bring in another creative central midfielder and it appears they are closing-in on the signing of Fernandes – if these reports coming out of Italy are to be believed.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming days as there is still time for the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham to step-up their interest but I think Fernandes would be a superb signing for United if they could get this proposed deal over the line.

Just one message to him. You are loosing your mind going to Man U. Don’t you want to play in the CL or what or is the money more inviting.

Whatever club he goes to he will make money anyway, what’s the point of joining spurs just to play in champ lg, knowing well what they are all about. We all know United is gonna rebuild now for the coming years why not be part of the project instead of waiting for them to make it happen then choose to join
