Personal terms agreed: Arsenal closing in on deal to sign £17.8m attacker

Arsenal are set to launch a fresh bid to sign Alexis Claude-Maurice after agreeing provisional personal terms with the £17.8m-rated Lorient attacker

Managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads during the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are closing in on Alexis Claude-Maurice…

Arsenal are set to launch a fresh bid to sign Alexis Claude-Maurice after agreeing provisional personal terms with the £17.8m-rated Lorient attacker, according to Get French Football News.

Unai Emery is expected to be extremely active in the transfer market this summer as he looks to overhaul his squad after we finished fifth in the Premier League and were beaten by Chelsea in the Europa League final last season.

The Gunners boss needs to strengthen his attack as Danny Welbeck has left the club on a free transfer, the future’s of Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are in doubt and we desperately need to add some width to the squad.

Claude-Maurice has emerged as a target in recent weeks and he fuelled speculation over a potential move to the Emirates Stadium after being spotted in London with former team-mate Matteo Guendouzi last last month.

It appears Arsenal have formalised their interest as Get French Football News claims we’ve agreed provisional personal terms with Claude-Maurice and are now trying to thrash out a deal with Lorient.

New customer offer. Place 5 x €/£10 or more bets to receive €/£20 in free bets. Repeat up to 5 times to receive maximum €/£100 bonus. Min odds 1/2 (1.5). Exchange bets excluded. Full T&Cs Apply. 18+|Gamble Aware.

A low opening offer was immediately knocked back but GFFN claims Arsenal are expected to table a fresh offer imminently after seeing a second bid worth around £14.2m [€16m] rejected by the Ligue 2 outfit.

We aren’t that far apart in our valuations as the French publication suggests Lorient are demanding £17.8m [€20m] for the 21-year-old’s signature so a deal could be on the cards over the coming days.

Claude-Maurice has attracted plenty of interest after coming through the youth ranks at Lorient to establish himself as a key player with the youngster providing 14 goals and 4 assists in 35 appearances last season.

The French U20 international is predominantly a left winger so he’d provide some much needed width if he does join Arsenal. He may not be the ‘marquee’ name many fans want but Emery is working on a tight budget so this is the type of player I expect us to be going for this summer.
