Transfer talks are underway as Manchester United eye a double swoop involving Youri Tielemans and Issa Diop. See the details here
Managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads during the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, news on Man Utd’s interest in Youri Tielemans and Issa Diop…
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to be a busy man this summer as he looks to overhaul his squad after they finished sixth in the Premier League last season and midfield is an area the United boss needs to strengthen.
Ander Herrera has left the club after running down his contract while Paul Pogba has gone public with his desire to seek a new challenge this summer amid strong links Real Madrid and Juventus so Solskjaer is in the market for at least one midfielder.
Tielemans has emerged as a target in recent weeks and the Daily Star are citing Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur – who works for HLN – as claiming that Man Utd have now held talks about signing the 22-year-old this summer.
The Belgian international was outstanding for Leicester during his short loan spell last season as he provided 3 goals and 5 assists in 13 appearances after moving to the King Power from Monaco in January.
Tielemans is now set for a permanent move away from Monaco this summer and although Leicester are desperate to sign him, it looks like they could face stiff competition from Man Utd for his signature.
The Daily Star claims Monaco want £40m for the midfielder and I think he’d be a superb signing for United if they could get a deal agreed and lure him to Old Trafford this summer.
United are also looking to strengthen their defence after conceding 54 goals in the league last season and Solskjaer is on the market for a new partner for Victor Lindelof in the middle of his back four.
The likes of Harry Maguire, Matthijs de Ligt and Kalidou Koulibaly have all been linked but Sky Sports claim United have now expressed an interest in signing West Ham star Issa Diop.
The report says Man Utd are willing to pay £45m for the highly-rared 22-year-old centre-back and send a player to West Ham as part of the deal with Phil Jones or Chris Smalling touted as possible make-weights.
Diop only joined West Ham from Toulouse last summer in a £22m deal but he was an instant success as he was hugely impressive during his 38 appearances last season and it appears he’s caught the eye of Solskjaer.

However, United may have to dig a little deeper as Sky Sports claim the Hammers are determined to keep hold of the France U21 international and will demand at least £60m for the defender this summer.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but it looks like United are busy in the market right now as they hold talks over a possible £85m double swoop and I think Tielemans and Diop would be great additions to Solskjaer’s squad if they could pull it off.
