Managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads during the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Here, Liverpool are linked with Marco Asensio…
Liverpool are willing to pay £67.5m to sign Real Madrid star Marco Asensio as Jurgen Klopp looks to strengthen his attacking options this summer, according to Spanish outlet Eldesmarque.
Klopp is only expected to make minor changes to his Champions League winning squad and he already has one of the most lethal forward lines in world football with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino all established in the Liverpool starting eleven.
However, Klopp has been tipped to bring in another versatile attacker as he knows he’ll need plenty of depth throughout his squad if Liverpool are to compete on all front next season as they look to wrestle the title away from Man City.
It looks like Klopp has an ambitious target in mind as Eldesmarque claims the German coach is desperate to sign Marco Asensio as he believes the Madrid star would be the perfect player to compliment his attacking options.
The Spanish publication says Liverpool are willing to pay £67.5m [€75m] to sign Asensio this summer and they suggest Real Madrid may consider cashing-in if a suitable offer arrives over the coming weeks.
Asensio is one of the most highly-rated young attackers in Europe and he’s able to play anywhere across the attacking midfield positions so his versatility would be a useful asset for Klopp if Liverpool were able to lure him to Anfield.
The Spanish international started just 19 La Liga games last season and while Madrid obviously rate him highly, they will be tempted to cash-in on a squad player to help fund Zidane’s huge summer overhaul.
However, the La Liga giants are reluctant to sell the 23-year-old to Liverpool without getting a player in return and Eldesmarque claims Zinedine Zidane has asked president Florentino Perez to offer Asensio as part of a deal to take Sadio Mane to the Bernabeu.

Such a proposal will almost certainly be rejected by Liverpool as the Senegal winger is an integral part of Klopp’s side so the Merseysiders are going to have to try and persuade Madrid to do a straight cash deal if they want to sign Asensio.
