Raul Sanllehi has flown back to London to conduct transfer business as Arsenal close-in on Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos on a season long loan deal, according to the Mirror.

Ceballos has been tipped for a move this summer after struggling to force his way into Zinedine Zidane’s starting eleven on a regular basis since joining Madrid from Real Betis in 2017 with the midfielder making just 13 league starts last season.

The 22-year-old is reluctant to give up on his Madrid dream entirely so a loan move suits all parties and Arsenal have emerged as the firm favourites for his signature after seeing off rival interest from Tottenham.

Spanish outlet AS reported recently that Unai Emery had called Ceballos to convince him to snub Spurs in favour of a switch to the Emirates Stadium and Zidane has now given the green light to the move.

The Mirror claims Arsenal’s head of football Raul Sanllehi has left the clubs pre-season tour of the US in order to fly back to north London to conduct transfer business and help push through the signing of Ceballos.

The newspaper says Arsenal have already held extensive talks with Madrid and the player and the club are confident of getting a deal wrapped-up over the coming days to make Ceballos our second signing of the summer following the arrival of Gabriel Martinelli.

Ceballos would be an excellent addition to the squad as he’s a hugely talented player who has just starred for Spain during their win at the U21 European Championships so I think he’ll be an exciting replacement for Aaron Ramsey.

It’s promising to be a busy end to the transfer window as the Mirror says Arsenal are also on the verge of signing William Saliba for £27m in a deal that will see the centre-back re-join Saint-Etienne on loan for next season.

Emery is also hoping to bring in left-back Kieran Tierney from Celtic while another winger is also on the agenda so we could have up to four new signings through the door before the window shuts in just over 2 weeks time.
