William Saliba is set to undergo a medical with Arsenal as Unai Emery closes in on a triple swoop also involving Dani Ceballos and Kieran Tierney

William Saliba is set to undergo a medical with Arsenal as Unai Emery closes in on a triple swoop also involving Dani Ceballos and Kieran Tierney, according to Goal.

The report says a £27m deal has been agreed with Saint-Etienne to buy Saliba and the centre-back is now due to undergo his medical early next week once the Ligue 1 club return from their tour of the United States following Sunday’s game with Marseille.

Goal says the 18-year-old will sign a five-year deal with Arsenal before returning to Saint-Etienne on loan for next season to continue his development having emerged as one of the most highly-rated youngsters in French football.

We had to fight off late interest from Tottenham but the French U20 international always favoured a move to the Emirates so Saliba is set to follow Brazilian teenager Gabriel Martinelli in joining Arsenal this summer.

It’s going to be a busy few days as Goal are one of several news outlets also reporting that Arsenal are on the verge of completing a season long loan deal to sign Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid.

The midfielder has struggled to nail down a regular place at the Bernabeu so needs to leave in search of regular first team football and it looks like Emery is ready to bring in the Spanish U21 star as a replacement for Aaron Ramsey.

Goal suggest a deal could be wrapped-up when we play Real Madrid in Washington in the International Champions Cup on Wednesday night so Ceballos could be an Arsenal player by the end of next week.

The report says we’ve agreed to pay Madrid a loan fee to have the 22-year-old for the next 12 months and we’ll also cover his £3m wages but no option to buy clause is expected to be included in the deal.

The spending isn’t going to stop there as Goal claim Arsenal are also set to launch a fresh bid to sign left-back Kieran Tierney after seeing two previous offers rejected by Celtic this summer.

It’s reported that our latest bid met Celtic’s £25m valuation but they weren’t happy that we wanted to pay £7m of the fee in add-ons as the SPL champions want more of the fee paid up front.

We’ll have to wait and see what our third offer looks like but hopefully we can finally get a deal agreed as Tierney would be an excellent addition to the squad and he’d be a superb long-term replacement for Nacho Monreal.

So it looks like it’s going to be a hectic closing few weeks of the window at the Emirates but I think Ceballos, Saliba and Tierney would all be exciting signings so hopefully we can get this triple swoop over the line.
