Sporting Lisbon are confident they’ll reach an agreement with Manchester United for the sale of £70m-rated attacker Bruno Fernandes during a meeting next week, according to reports via The Sun.

Fernandes has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford throughout the summer with widespread media reports suggesting United are in pole position to land the midfielder after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer identified him as a prime transfer target.

Gazetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira claimed earlier this month that Fernandes’ agent Miguel Pinho was in England holding talks with United chiefs over a potential move this summer.

Duncan Castles – who writes for the Times – then told the Transfer Window Podcast last week that Pinho had informed Sporting that United were ready to submit a formal offer for Fernandes.

Now, The Sun are citing Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri as claiming that Man Utd have held fresh talks about signing the Portuguese international and Sporting are confident a deal will be agreed during a meeting next week.

Palmeri said on Twitter:

Manchester United had another contact with Bruno Fernandes. Sporting confident to close the deal next week, when a new meeting is expected.

We’ll have to wait and see how things progress over the coming days but any deal for Fernandes is unlikely to come cheap as The Sun says Sporting Lisbon value him at around £70m.

United obviously have the financial muscle to pay that kind of money and Fernandes would be an exciting addition to Solskjaer’s squad if the Manchester giants were able to pull off a deal.

The 24-year-old contributed a staggering 32 goals and 18 assists from a central attacking midfield position last season so he’d provide Solskjaer with a a real creative threat if he completed a move to United this summer.

Stupid thing is all this procrastination by United has weakened their position in negotiations and they will pay more than they wanted because the season is coming fast. Very poor business by Woodward but nothing new there.

Woodward is the man to blame for the delay in signing new players, he knows that the team needs serious revamp but he delays to release the money. He behaves as if the money belongs to his mother.
Infarct even morinho was okay Ed is the one who need to be replaced.
