Managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads during the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Here, Tottenham are closing-in on Ryan Sessegnon…

Tottenham are on closing-in on the signing of Ryan Sessegnon after seeing off competition from the likes of Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund for the £45m-rated Fulham star, according to the Express.

Mauricio Pochettino has already splashed out on Jack Clarke and Tanguy Ndombele this summer but the Tottenham boss is expected to further strengthen his squad before the window shuts in just over two weeks time.

Spurs are in the market for a new left-back as Danny Rose is set to leave White Hart Lane after being left out of the clubs pre-season tour to negotiate a move away from the club and the Express says Pochettino has identified Sessegnon as his replacement.

The 19-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Tottenham this summer as he’s set to end his long association with Fulham having made it clear he won’t be signing a new contract following their relegation from the Premier League.

Sessegnon has been at Craven Cottage since he was eight but he has just one year left on his current deal so Fulham are being forced to cash-in while they can still demand a sizable fee for his signature.

The Express suggests Tottenham have won the race to sign the England U21 international after seeing off competition from the likes of Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund and the report says a move is now ‘on the verge’ of completion.

However, despite suggesting a deal is close, the newspaper claims a fee is yet to be agreed between the two clubs as Fulham value Sessegnon at £45m while Spurs are hoping to bring the price down to around £25m plus add-ons.

A compromise is expected to be eventually found with Sessegnon set to become Tottenham’s third signing of the summer and I think he’ll turn out to be an excellent addition to Pochettino’s squad if this proposed deal gets over the line.

The youngster made his name as an attack-minded left-back but he’s also been playing further forward for club and country over the past 12 months so he’d give Pochettino a versatile option down the left flank.
