Manchester United are in advanced negotiations to sign Christian Eriksen with Tottenham ready to cash-in on the midfielder if £55m is put on the table, according to AS.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly looking to bring in a creative midfielder before Thursday evening’s transfer deadline amid on-going speculation surrounding the future of Paul Pogba and Eriksen has emerged as a prime target.

The Danish international has been linked with a move away from Tottenham since going public with his desire to seek a new challenge earlier in the summer and it appears United are keen on luring him to Old Trafford.

Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri claimed late last month that Man Utd had opened talks with Tottenham over a deal to sign Eriksen and AS says negotiations between the two clubs have ‘accelerated’ in recent days and are now at an advanced stage.

The Spanish publication claims United have offered Eriksen a lucrative five-year contract and the midfielder is seriously considering accepting the proposal after being convinced of the project being created at Old Trafford.

Once Eriksen gives the go-ahead and agrees the contract, the report says Man Utd will test Tottenham’s resolve with a formal offer and AS suggests Spurs would be willing to do business if £55m [€60m] was put on the table from their domestic rivals.

However, United could yet face stiff competition from Spain as the report says Real Madrid are also keen on Eriksen and will target the Danish international if they fail to agree terms for Pogba over the coming days.

It’s a fascinating situation as United could find themselves missing out on Eriksen if they refuse to sell Pogba to Madrid but Solskjaer insists they don’t want to sell the French international, despite his determination to leave this summer.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but Eriksen would be an excellent signing for Man Utd if they could get a deal agreed for the 27-year-old. No doubt Spurs would be reluctant to sell but the midfielder has just one year left on his contract so they are under pressure to cash-in or risk losing him for nothing in 12 months time.

I would urge Solskjaer/Woodward to rather get Bruno Fernandes than Eriksen. Maybe they are trying to save the money they overspent on Maguire. Rather count that as a loss and go for the better option. Two wrongs never make a right.

seriously if we cosider it well. either of em is not bad. but interms of exposure and the reasoining of the league, Erisken knows better. but both of em are good

How is Eriksen a mistake? Fernandes has never being on Utd’s radar, agents have been using the club to trump up fees/negotiations for the player. Eriksen is a cheaper and sensible option for Utd. IMO

LMAO, where is he to go?! Madrid under Zidane will achieve nothing, at least at Utd he will be at a club where he will be appreciated by fans and in a clime he already knows. Utd are not exactly the club they were years ago but honestly, it is still a lot better than Spurs.

“Advanced talks” apparently means that the club will sign them a month to 6 years from now… pathetic

Bruno Fernandes is an exciting prospect but Eriksen is a proven EPL player and could come cheaper than 65/70m

Erickson is a better choice he has proven himself in the premiership. Bruno had a spell in the Italian league and performed baldly. we seeing the best of him cuz he plays in a less competitive league
