Tottenham Hotspur kick off their 2019/20 Premier League campaign when they entertain Aston Villa at the new White Hart Lane on Saturday evening.

The north Londoners have issued a team news update on TottenhamHotspur.com this afternoon and they’ve confirmed that five players are set to miss the visit of Villa tomorrow night.

Heung-Min Son will miss out on Saturday as the South Korean international will serve the second match of his three-game suspension following his sending off towards the end of last season.

Defender Juan Foyth is also still suspended but the defender wouldn’t have been available anyway due to an ankle injury that’s expected to keep him on the sidelines until September.

Tottenham also provided an update on Dele Alli and although the attacking midfielder is progressing well in his recovery from a hamstring injury, he won’t be available for selection against Villa.

New signing Ryan Sessegnon is also on the treatment table due to a hamstring injury that he sustained while playing for the England U21’s this summer. Pochettino told reporters at his press conference that the 19-year-old will be out for up to 4 weeks, which will be a big blow to the North Londoners.

Ben Davies has returned to full training after undergoing groin surgery this summer but the left-back is still short of match fitness so isn’t expected to be in contention to face Aston Villa this weekend meaning Pochettino will be without five players.

However, there was more positive news on Eric Dier as the midfielder is in full training following an unspecified injury and will be available for selection this weekend while Victor Wanyama is also in contention after recovering from a knee injury.

Tottenham broke their club transfer record to sign Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon this summer and the Frenchman is in-line to make his competitive debut tomorrow while deadline day arrival Giovani Lo Celso could also be in the squad following his move from Real Betis.
