[Video Goals] Man Utd 4-0 Chelsea: Rashford & James on target as Utd thrash Blues

By on August 11, 2019

Marcus Rashford scored twice as Manchester United got their season off to a flying start with a 4-0 demolition of Chelsea at Old Trafford this evening.

Chelsea almost opened the scoring in the 4th minute when Tammy Abraham clattered the post but it was United who broke the deadlock when Marcus Rashford lashed home a superb penalty in the 18th minute after being brought down in the area.

The Blues gave as good as they got during the opening forty-five minutes but still found themselves down at half-time and United took control after the break with Anthony Martial sweeping the ball home from close range to make it 2-0 in the 65th minute.

Rashford then raced clear to slot home for 3-0 just minutes later after the striker was found by a superb racking pass from Paul Pogba and the Frenchman grabbed his second assist of the game as he teed-up substitute Daniel James to make it 4-0 with a goal on his debut for the youngster.

It was a resounding victory for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side but it was a worrying start to life as Chelsea manager for Frank Lampard so he’ll be demanding a response from his players when they take on Liverpool in the Super Cup on Wednesday night.
