David Luiz has heaped praise on Dani Ceballos after watching the midfielder put in a Man of the Match performance against Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

Ceballos joined Arsenal on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid earlier this month and after making a late cameo off the bench against Newcastle United on the opening weekend of the season he was given his full debut by Unai Emery against Burnley.

The 23-year-old certainly didn’t let his manager down as Ceballos produced a stunning display in the middle of the park and set-up both goals to help Arsenal secure a hard fought 2-1 victory at the Emirates.

The Spanish U23 international set-up Alexandre Lacazette for the opening goal before winning possession deep into the Burnley half and teeing-up Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to score the eventual winner in the second half.

Ceballos was given a standing ovation by the Emirates crowd after being replaced shortly before full-time and it’s fair to say he’s already made an impression on new team-mate David Luiz.

The centre-back – who also made his debut on Saturday after joining Arsenal from Chelsea on deadline day – said Ceballos was on a ‘different level’ to everyone else on the pitch against Burnley and the Brazilian is excited to see how much he improves over the coming months.

Luiz is quoted by the Mirror as saying:

“He is someone who loves to play football and do his job. He is showing exactly what he is as a player, someone who loves to get on the ball and take the game (to opponents).

“I was so happy because he played an amazing game and I hope he can keep improving. He played at a different level and it was good for everybody.”

It was certainly one of the best full debut’s I’ve watched from an Arsenal player in years and Luiz is right when he says Ceballos was a cut above the rest on Saturday as he was unplayable at times.

Hopefully he can keep it up as I think the Spaniard will be a huge asset to Arsenal during his season on loan and let’s pray we manage to get a deal agreed with Madrid to make the move permanent next summer.

It will be a tough test for Ceballos, and for Arsenal, over the next couple of weeks as we head to Anfield to take on reigning European Champions Liverpool on Saturday before welcoming Tottenham to the Emirates the following weekend.
