Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed Paul Pogba will be fit for Manchester United’s huge Premier League clash with Arsenal next week.

Pogba has missed United’s last four matches due to an ankle injury that he picked up before the international break earlier this month but Solskjaer says the midfielder is set to return to action.

The Man Utd boss has suggested Pogba may make an appearance during Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup third round clash with Rochdale but says the Frenchman will ‘definitely’ be ready to take on Arsenal at Old Trafford on Monday night.

Speaking to ManUtd.com ahead of tomorrow night’s League Cup game, when asked for an update on Pogba, Solskjaer said:

“He’ll probably get some minutes against Rochdale. But we definitely think he’s ready for Arsenal.”

Pogba’s return will be a major boost for United as he’s been sorely missed in recent weeks. It sounds like he’ll make an appearance against Rochdale, possibly from the bench, to get him ready to start in the Premier League showdown with Arsenal.

ManUtd.com also reports that Mason Greenwood could be back in contention to face Rochdale tomorrow after the young forward missed the defeat at West Ham at the weekend due to a bout of tonsillitis.

However, the United website says Marcus Rashford has been ruled out of the League Cup game after being forced off with a groin injury during Sunday’s defeat at West Ham. The striker is still being assessed before it’s known how long he’ll be out for but as it stands Rashford is considered a major doubt to face Arsenal.

Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial have both been ruled out of the Rochdale game so they too are doubts for the visit of Arsenal on Monday. Shaw has been struggling with a hamstring injury for almost a month while Martial has missed the last four games with a thigh problem and it remains to be seen whether either will recover in time for take on the Gunners.

Solskjaer is expected to rotate his squad for tomorrow night’s Carabao Cup game with the likes of Sergio Romero, Diogo Dalot, Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe, Fred and Angel Gomes expected to feature.
