This is our match preview ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Watford at Vicarage Road including team news, line-ups and prediction

Chelsea will look to bounce back from their Carabao Cup exit when they take on Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday evening.

The Blues were dumped out of the League Cup at the hands of Manchester United on Wednesday night with Marcus Rashford scoring a stunning long-range free-kick to seal a 2-1 win for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side at Stamford Bridge.

The defeat ended Chelsea’s seven game winning run in all competitions so boss Frank Lampard will be hoping his men can get straight back to winning ways against Watford tomorrow evening.

Chelsea head into the game sitting fourth in the Premier League table following their 4-2 victory at Burnley last weekend so the west Londoners can apply some pressure on Leicester and Man City with a win at Vicarage Road.

However, Watford will be battling for their lives as they head into the weekend action sitting rock bottom of the table after failing to win any of their opening 10 league games this season.

Team news

Chelsea will continue to be without Antonio Rudiger as the defender has been sent to see a specialist after struggling to overcome a niggling pelvic injury that’s hampered him in recent weeks.

N’Golo Kante is edging closer to making his return from a groin injury but this game comes too soon while Andreas Christensen is also still on the sidelines with a thigh complaint.

Ross Barkley is on the verge of returning to full training after missing the last three matches with an ankle injury but he won’t be in contention to face Watford this weekend.

The Hornets will be without Troy Deeney as he’s still nursing a knee injury while Ismaila Sarr, Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverley and Domingos Quina are also ruled out. However, Etienne Capoue and Isaac Success could be back in the squad.

Predicted score

Watford 0-2 Chelsea: The Blues have lost just one of their last 11 league meetings with Watford and the hosts have endured a nightmare start to the season having picked up just five points from their opening 10 games. Watford have also managed to score just five goals so far this campaign and Chelsea have won each of their last four Premier League away games so I can’t see past a win for Lampard’s side tomorrow.
