Preview and betting tips ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Leicester

jurgen klopp liverpool 2020

Liverpool will be looking to move back up the Premier League table when they take on Leicester City at Anfield this evening.

The Merseysiders head into the game sitting fourth in the standings after drawing away to Manchester City before the international break but they can move level on points with leaders Tottenham with a win today.

The reigning champions are unbeaten in all competitions since their 7-2 thumping by Aston Villa at the start of October so they are in fine form but Jurgen Klopp won’t be taking anything for granted against a dangerous Leicester outfit.

Brendan Rodgers has built an excellent side at the King Power Stadium and the Foxes sit one point above Liverpool in the table so they can omve clear at the top if they pull off a shock result at Anfield this evening.

Betting odds

Liverpool are the 17/20 favourites with this canada online casino to win the game and it’s difficult to see past a home victory considering how formidable they are on home soil.

If you predict a surprise result you can back Leicester to take home all three points at odds of 3/1 – which seems tempting given they currently sit above Liverpool in the table – while the draw is available at 29/10.

However, I wouldn’t waste my money on those bets as I’d rather try my luck at poker or play baccarat online than bet against Liverpool at Anfield so our money is on a home win. Leicester should give a good account of themselves but a 2-1 Liverpool win looks solid odds at 7/1.

Team News

Liverpool have been dealt a major blow ahead of the match after Joe Gomez was ruled out for the majority of the season having undergone surgery on a serious knee injury that he picked up while away with England last week.

Virgil van Dijk is also recovering from a long-term injury while Trent Alexander-Arnold remains out with a calf problem that he sustained earlier this month so Klopp has plenty of problems in defence.

Jordan Henderson is also set to miss out with a groin injury and Mohamed Salah won’t be involved after testing positive for covid-19 while away on international duty with Egypt last week so Diogo Jota should start in attack.

However, there is some positive news for Liverpool as Fabinho could be back in contention after returning to training while Thiago Alcantara is also close to full fitness following a knee problem.

Leicester City could welcome Timothy Castagne and Wesley Fofana back into the squad after they recovered from injury issues. Ricardo Pereira, Wilfred Ndidi and Caglar Soyuncu have returned to training but aren’t expected to be involved tonight.

Predicted Line-ups

Expected Liverpool XI: Alisson, Williams, Fabinho, Matip, Robertson, Milner, Wijnaldum, Keita, Jota, Mane, Firmino.

Expected Leicester XI: Schmeichel, Fofana, Evans, Fuchs, Castagne, Tielemans, Mendy, Justin, Barnes, Maddison, Vardy.

Prediction

Liverpool 2-1 Leicester: This could be a terrific game between two excellent sides and Leicester may fancy their chances against a Liverpool team who’re missing plenty of important players.

However, the Reds are still able to put out a strong starting eleven that’s packed with quality and I think they’ll edge it at Anfield. Sadio Mane could be the key player to help Liverpool seal a 2-1 win.
