Transfer Rumours: Sabitzer Might May Join Arsenal, Ben White Signing Done Deal
Here we look at a couple of transfer rumours including midfielder Marcel Sabitzer and centre-back Ben White potentially joining Arsenal this summer.
No matter what part of the Northern hemisphere you’re in, this summer is HOT – especially from a football point of view. The football news is filled with surprising and shocking events, from France crashing out of the European Championship after Mbappé’s missed penalty to Messi becoming a free agent after spending his entire career with Barcelona. Compared to this high-impact news, the speculations about the summer transfer window are minuscule – even though they are the ones that give us a glimpse into the future of our favourite teams. Today, let’s take a look at two rumours that were probably hidden in the shadows up to this point.
Sabitzer may join Arsenal
Marcel Sabitzer has earned his place in the spotlight this year due to his excellent form with RB Leipzig in the Champions League, including scoring twice in the team’s game against Spurs. Sabitzer’s contract is set to expire next year but Leipzig are reportedly allowing him to decide whether he wants to move on from the Bundesliga side, and where.
Apparently, there is no shortage of teams that would love to sign the 27-year-old midfielder, partly because of the attractive price tag attached to his name – Leipzig are reportedly ready to let him go for a transfer fee of just €17 million (around £14.6 million today).
The player has been linked to several high-profile teams in the last few weeks, including AC Milan and Roma (although the latter is unlikely, as the player made it clear that he wants to play in the Champions League next year). And Arsenal is also among his rumoured destinations.
In an interview last year, Sabitzer revealed that he loved the atmosphere of English football and finds it inspiring, so he could imagine himself playing in the Premier League.
Ben White move to Arsenal, “essentially done”
23-year-old centre-back Ben White wants to join Arsenal, and his transfer from Brighton & Hove Albion is pretty much a ‘done deal’, football.london’s Chris Wheatley claims on Instagram. The player has been linked to the Gunners repeatedly over the last few weeks, with reports speaking of a transfer fee of around £50 million.
White has proven himself worthy of attention during his five years with Albion, earning the Player Of The Season title last season. He is part of England’s EURO 2020 squad with no appearances so far.
While Wheatley already considers his move to the Gunners a ‘done deal’, there are still reports about other contenders still in the race, especially Everton. The Toffees are reportedly ready to trump Arsenal’s offer for the player.
I guess we’ll have to wait for the official news to break after the EURO 2020 final.
