Leicester vs Liverpool: Betting preview with odds and predictions

jurgen klopp liverpool 2020

Liverpool will be desperate to close the gap at the top of the Premier League table when they take on Leicester City at the King Power on Tuesday night.

The Reds saw their scheduled clash with Leeds United at Anfield on Boxing Day postponed due to a covid outbreak within the Leeds squad. Leaders Manchester City took full advantage as they beat Leicester 6-3 at the Etihad Stadium to open up a six point lead over their nearest rivals.

Liverpool will therefore want to use their game in hand to cut City’s advantage to just three points with a win at Leicester ahead of Sunday’s huge trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea – who currently sit level on points with the Merseysiders.

Leicester on the other hand will be smarting from their hammering at Man City yesterday. After being 4-0 down at half-time, Brendan Rodgers’ side pulled it back to 4-3 before City sealed the win with two late goals.

The defeat leaves Leicester sitting 10th in the Premier League table and well off the pace in the race for European qualification so Rodgers will be keen to get a positive result against his former employers tomorrow.

Betting odds

There is expected to be plenty of interest in this game on the betting markets so punters should make sure they take advantage of any free bets or bonuses if they’re going to bet on the match as bookies will be fighting for your business.

Liverpool are the 4/11 favourites to claim all three points at the King Power and Klopp’s men will be confident of getting the job done. Leicester are 7/1 to win – which are huge odds considering they’re the home side – while the draw can be backed at 4/1.

The Foxes are leaking goals and Liverpool have been in red hot form in front of goal so over 3.5 match goals at odds of 21/20 looks tempting and both teams to score at 8/15 is also a solid bet.

We expect Liverpool to come out victorious and a 3-1 away win is available at odds of 8/1. If we add Mo Salah as the first goal-scorer in a 3-1 Liverpool win, we get odds of 33/1.

Team news

Liverpool will be without Andy Robertson due to suspension after his dismissal against Tottenham last time out. Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho and Curtis Jones should return from covid but it remains to be seen whether Thiago Alcantara will be available.

Harvey Elliott is still working his way back from a serious injury while Divock Origi and Nat Phillips are still injured.

As for Leicester, they’ll continue to be without Wesley Fofana, James Justin, Jonny Evans and Ricardo Pereira. Caglar Soyuncu and Paston Daka are also expected to miss the game while Harvey Barnes and Ryan Bertrand are doubts.

Predicted line-ups

Leicester:  Schmeichel; Daley-Campbell, Amartey, Vestergaard, Castagne; Ndidi, Tielemans, Soumare; Perez, Vardy, Maswanhise

Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Henderson, Fabinho, Keita; Salah, Jota, Mane

Predicted score

Leicester 1-3 Liverpool: Leicester have huge injury problems and are in woeful form while Liverpool are getting some of their key men back and are in terrific form. This has ‘away win’ written all over it.
