The 42 Club – Scotland’s Version of ‘Doing The 92 Football League Grounds’

If you’re a football fanatic like us, you will be more than aware of ‘The 92 Club’. For those unaware, the club was founded in the late 70s, by a bloke called Gordon Pearce, a Bristol Rovers fan. Essentially, this is the idea of visiting all 92 football grounds in the English Football League, and ticking them off as you go along. The list of stadiums changes each year, as clubs are promoted and relegated in and out of the EFL, and when clubs move to new stadiums. So what about Scotland?

It’s no secret that in this day and age, the hub of ‘proper’ football is certainly in the lower-funded leagues. Where players originate from their team’s area, tackles fly in left and right, and a club’s life is embodied by its fans. No better example of this can be found than the four tiers of Scottish football. If you’re eager to get a head start on your trip, and are flying to the Capital, it’s worth inquiring about car hire at Edinburgh Airport. This will enable you to tick a few of these grounds off in a single visit, as there can be a substantial distance between each ground.
