There Is A Reason Why Almunia Went From No.1 to No.3 In 6 Months

It is unbelievable how little faith some fans have in the Arsenal team after the match yesterday. Yes we dropped two valuable points and are now 5 points from leaders Man United. This match was always going to be difficult as the Baggies are quite a resilient side at the Hawthorns. Since Roy Hodgson took over, they have tightened up and are on a good run, being unbeaten in their last four matches. So it is quite commendable that we managed to return with a point. The lads did not play their best but the way they fought back shows that we still have what it takes to become league champions.

There are still nine more matches to go and it is this month that the leaders will face their most demanding schedule. If they successful navigate the month without dropping any points, they deserve to win the title. Personally I am sure they will drop some more points before they arrive at the Emirates in the beginning of May. It is the job of Arsene and the Gunners to make sure that we are still within touching distance by the end of April.

We have many difficult games as well so it will be interesting to see how we are going to take advantage of the situation. This next international break is welcomed for the club as it gives the injured players a long time to recuperate. Ideally when we play our next match against Blackburn, we will welcome the return of Cesc, Theo and Song to the first team. Without the trio, we have lost a little spark and it is not a coincidence that we have not managed get full points from the last two league matches.

The only thing that worries me is Almunia. He is really a disaster and there is a reason why he went from No 1 choice at the start of the season to No 3 by the turn of the New Year. Our goalkeeping situation was very much in control with Wojciech between the sticks. Now we only hope a 41 year old keeper can take over from this walking time bomb.

I just think if a point is a credible return at the Hawthornes then what should we be expecting @ Spurs, Bolton & Stoke all away? With walking disasters like Almunia & Squillaci (who let the ball bounce yet again on their 2nd goal) in the team who we’re relying on, really struggling to see us winning any of them matches!

i agree with the article, but also in some way see yorkshiregooner view.
but i believe with cesc back and walcot and song,we will be stronger, yes alimunia wasd poor yesterday, but i think playimng lehmann would be a disaster for us, last seaon he was quiet poor for his club.
sqillachi i don’t think was too blame for the second goal , i believe and we all do, think alimunia should stayed where he was in goal then wba would’t scored, i think alimunia put sqillachi off,i think he though alimunia was going head the ball away, but alimunia just stop dead , and i believe he should saved the first goal too it was right at him but he just seem to not try to stop the header.

Lets be honest its not just this game w.b.a have got 4 points from us this yr ask any bookie what odds wud u get for that at the start of the season. Yes they were great to come back but shud they’ve been in that situation? Where is the fight in the players that come in due to injuries i.e den, diaby etc? (not great players but surely in a better calibre than w.b.a players!?) do these players not want to show something so that they might be picked next game or are they just like fucking irish politicians an think its ok to just clock in for their big fat wage packet.

the bastard pushed squilacci, is u watch the replay he wasnt trying to do anything except make us concede i belive he did it deliberately. ive hated almunia since cl final 2006, any other keeper we would have won even with 10 men but the bastard let it 2 easy goals.

I think we should get real arsenal are now a developing team or club either. Wenger has done a huge favour for us and I’m sure in the future we will have a strong team but for now we just have to put up with it when ever I watch arsenal I watch with neutral view great if we win not surprised if we lose and draw well it’s a point before 2seasons ago I would be excited watching them then it turned to nervousness the season next and I’m sure most arsenal fans feel the same this season nervous when they come on to the pitch and nervous when they play especially when the ball is in are box or even our half. However let’s all see what happens this season and see if wenger actually buys some players this summer and also gets rid of some players that don’t fit in as this is what developing clubs do like youth systems, they see which players are doing well and ones that are not they move them on to other clubs.

lehnman replacing almunia?remember 2007/08 season when he been replaced by almunia.hes not better compared to almunia by the way.so we have no choice except to support this Aluminium until wojciech coming back (B4 season over hopefully).manone would be great too but he injured as well.sigh.deja vu…

Almunia is a complete disaster. our defence lack confidence and only God can save us from further calamity. The way they behave sometimes makes me think they are mercenaries not arsenal ‘real’players.

Thank God, the international break might just be what we need.

I wont be surprised if we slip to third at this rate. unlike Man utd., we just cant manage to scrape wins when our first team players are out. This has been the difference between the two sides for several seasons now. We have had several chances to challenge for the top spot this season but whenever the chance is there we throw it away. i don’t know if it is a lack of quality or maybe we just get stage fright when these opportunities appear. Chelsea are showing form again , so judging by our latest performances, Third is what i expect. I can’t even watch anymore!
