Liverpool will be looking to get their Champions League campaign back on track when they take on Ajax at Anfield this evening.

The Merseysiders have endured a disappointing start to the new season and that inconsistent form continued with a 4-1 defeat to Napoli in their Champions League group stage opener last week.

Jurgen Klopp says the display in Naples was the worst he’s seen from his side during in his time at the club, so he’s demanding a response from his players against Ajax tonight.

Favourites

There is expected to be a lot of interest in the betting markets for this game so betting sites will be vying for your business. Therefore, it’s important to look around for the best offers such as the top casino 10 euro gratis bonus that’s available at some online bookmakers.

Despite their poor form, Liverpool are still the heavy favourites to win the game tonight. Many bookies are offering odds of 11/20 on Liverpool claiming victory at Anfield while Ajax are 4/1 to secure a shock win. The draw is on offer at 18/5 if you think the points will be shared.

Mohamed Salah is enduring a dry spell in front of goal but the Egyptian is still one of the most prolific marksmen in the world. Salah is 7/2 to open the scoring tonight and 5/6 to score anytime during the game.

Ajax are a dangerous side that shouldn’t be underestimated but Liverpool should be confident of getting the win. A 2-1 home victory is available at odds of 13/2 and that looks like a solid bet.

Injury news

Liverpool have mixed news on the injury front. The good news is that Thiago Alcantara is set to return to the starting eleven after making his comeback off the bench last week. The Spaniard’s return will be a big boost to Klopp.

However, the Reds have a number of other injury concerns to worry about with Andrew Robertson the latest to be sidelined. The left-back picked up a knock during the closing stages of the defeat to Napoli and won’t be available tonight.

Jordan Henderson, Curtis Jones, Naby Keita, Ibrahima Konate, Calvin Ramsey and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are also still missing for Liverpool.

Klopp could make some changes to freshen things up with the likes of Kostas Tsimikas, Joel Matip, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez all pushing for recalls to the starting eleven.

Prediction

Ajax always play good football and are capable of scoring wonderful goals, however, they’ve lost a number of key players this summer with the likes of Antony and Lisandro Martinez joining Man Utd. They aren’t the same side they were last season and Liverpool should be too strong for them at Anfield.

Klopp has called on his squad to respond to the Napoli horror-show and with Thiago back in midfield, we should see a far more composed display from the Merseysiders tonight.
