world cup

We’re just a few weeks away from the World Cup in Qatar and the buzz is starting to grow to a fever pitch all over the football world.

Group B has to be one of the most interesting in the entire tournament. England is the heavy favourite but faces interesting challenges from Wales and the United States, which is returning to its first World Cup since 2014.

The sports betting community has also taken notice, with a lot of action and chatter surrounding this group. Bettors everywhere are trying to find the best World Cup bet offers, get their wagers in, and turn a profit betting on the World Cup.

Without further ado, let’s get into the betting preview

World Cup Group B Odds

Country Odds
England 1.33
USA 6.50
Wales 7.00
Iran 17.00

It’s no surprise to see England is expected to take the group heading into the tournament. They have the strongest squad, despite the recent rash of injuries to several key players at right back.

It will probably be more interesting to see who finishes in the second spot and manages to advance out of the group stage with England. The United States and Wales are projected staggeringly close together across online sportsbooks.

Their head-to-head match-up will certainly be a major determining factor for who will be able to come out of Group B.

England

England is opening up as the favourites in Group B and the schedule-makers at FIFA have done them a solid by offering them what should be a win against Iran to open up the festivities. The path forward is clear for them – win at least 2 games and at least draw in the third.

With the talent disparity between the Three Lions and the rest of the group, this should put them in a solid position to win the group.

USA

Here’s where things start to get interesting. The US is seen by betting sites as the favoured choice to finish second in Group B, but only by the slimmest of margins. The oddsmakers have just a 0.50 difference between them at the moment, and even that has flipped back and forth over the past several weeks.

In the States’ first World Cup after failing to qualify in 2018, they have maybe the most talented roster they’ve ever fielded. Headlined by the likes of Christian Pulisic, Gio, Reyna, Brenden Aaronson, and Tyler Adams, the hope is that this team can live up to the talent and advance through the group stage.

The key match-up will be between Wales and the US in the opening game of the tournament for both sides, with a win in that clearly placing either side in the pole position to finish in the top two.

Wales

On the flip side of that coin, Wales is appearing in just their second World Cup ever. Gareth Bale is still the headliner here, but the rest of the squad is solid with Nice’s Aaron Ramsey and Tottenham’s Ben Davies also playing key roles.

The team is a bit more seasoned in international play than the upstart US squad and that experience could play a key role in determining which of the two sides will advance out of the group.

Iran

The underdog that no one is talking about in this group, Iran is set to appear in their sixth World Cup. The team is headlined by attackers Sardar Azmoun and Mehdi Taremi, from Bayer Leverkusen and Porto, respectively.

It’s an uphill battle for Iran to advance out of this group, but with the attacking talent they have anything could happen. If they somehow manage to steal a point from England in the opening match, anything could happen.
