Newcastle United will look to take another huge step towards securing a top four finish with victory over Everton at Goodison Park tonight.

The Magpies have enjoyed an excellent campaign and are heading in the right direction under Eddie Howe. Not many had them down as Champions League qualifiers this season, but Newcastle have proven the doubters wrong.  A hugely impressive performance at St James’ Park on Sunday saw Newcastle blow Tottenham away. They led a shell-shocked Spurs side 5-0 inside the opening 30 minutes and went on to beat their top four rivals 6-1 in the north east.

Newcastle are now sitting third in the Premier League table on goal difference from Man United, and with the Red Devils taking on Spurs in north London this evening, the Geordies have a great chance to cement their place in the top four. Victory over Everton would maintain their third-place standing and extend their advantage over fifth-placed Aston Villa to eight points with a game in hand. So, they’d be in a terrific position to secure a Champions League qualification place.

Everton on the other hand are also in desperate need of points, but for very different reasons. The Toffees have endured a torrid season and come into this match having taken just three points from their last five games. A 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace on Saturday has left Everton sitting second from bottom in the table. However, victory tonight would see them climb out of the relegation zone and up to 16th, so this is a vital game for Sean Dyche’s men.

Betting odds

Football fans who play at SlotsUK and like to try their luck at online casino games may also be casting an eye over the odds for this game, as there are some tempting bets to be found at many bookmakers. Understandably, Newcastle are the favourites to collect all three points, but odds of 8/11 feels generous given the form of the two clubs.

Everton have been woeful for weeks but they have the potential to cause problems on home soil, and some loyal fans will be tempted to back them at odds of 4/1. The draw is available at 14/5 for those who think the spoils will be shared at Goodison Park.

  • Everton win 4/1
  • Newcastle win 8/11
  • Draw 14/5

Newcastle will be in confident mood and a 2-1 away win looks good value at 7/1. Alexander Isak has hit form at the right time and the Swedish hitman is 7/2 to open the scoring in this match tonight. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has struggled for form and fitness this season, but Everton fans might like to back him to score first at odds of 15/2.

Both teams to score is on offer at odds of 20/23, while over 2/5 match goals is also at odds of 20/23.

Prediction

Newcastle come into this match off the back of a resounding 6-1 win over Tottenham and have won five of their last six Premier League games. Everton on the other hand haven’t won any of their last five and are fighting for their lives in the bottom three. Anything can happen in football, but we expect the Magpies to edge this one and take another huge step towards bagging a top four spot. Everton 1-2 Newcastle
