Manuel Almunia suffered a knee injury in the warm up before Arsenal’s crucial game against Blackpool yesterday, and as a result, the 41 year-old German goalkeeper Jens Lehmann was played in Arsenal’s goal. It was his first start since rejoining Arsenal as he came out of retirement to be back up to Almunia at the club, and he wasn’t troubled too much in a game largely dominated by the Gunners.
Lehmann could have been sent off in the build up to Blackpool’s first and only goal in the game in which he dived down to trip up DJ Campbell. A goal was scored anyway and Lee Mason played the advantage to Blackpool, preventing a red card being shown or a penalty given.
It is, as yet unclear as to how serious Almunia’s injury is, but in the vital final few games, the question is, if Szczesny isn’t fit enough to face Liverpool next weekend, who would Arsenal fans rather have in goal, Manuel Almunia or Jens Lehmann?

Lahmann is so full of confident n can control the back 4 wel,unlike almunia full of crazy mistakes….i go with lahmann.

The pertinent question should be who do we want as our two central defenders and our two wingbac
ks ,only then wil the goalie/defensive issue be resolved ?

My vote goes to Lehman,not that he is that good, but you never can tell, he bring us the luck we have bee wait for. Just look at it this way, on the day of his return to the team, we recorded a win which we have not done for long now. Not just that he help by making some vital saves.

i prefer almunia because lahmann is get olding. Dont let us condemmed almunia because of his poor performance, he still has the confidence while lahmann at his age not. So i prefer almunia

I prefer almunia because in the bacalona game 2 years ago he was exelant and almunia is still young and confident and lahman is getting old (no affence 2 him) but he is and he is less confidant cous he is aging
