Once again, Chelsea are looking for options in the transfer market for the second time. So, we’ve rounded up some of the top transfers stories

Once again, Chelsea are looking for options in the transfer market for the second time. From a record spend last time around to exploring a bigger summer transfer window, Chelsea is going in strong to make Mauricio Pochettino’s squad for the upcoming season the right mix.

Usually, the downtime between the two Premier League seasons sees little of a fan following for the clubs in England. It is a time when there is a quiet period for most clubs, but it has been the opposite. Since Pochettino signed on, Chelsea has been on every sport daily, and fans have flocked to ticketing platforms to stay abreast of the upcoming fixtures. seatsnet.com, a reliable tickets reseller, already denotes several requests for Chelsea fixtures.

So, we’ve rounded up some of the top transfers that Chelsea are currently pursuing.

Chelsea – Mbappe – Impossible?

Reports link Chelsea with a surprise move for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) attacker Kylian Mbappé. The 24-year-old has been rumored to be considering a move away from PSG, especially with his contract set to expire next year.

According to Defensa Central, Chelsea is planning an ambitious move to sign Mbappé and may offer a player plus cash deal. The potential offer could include around €120 million and players such as Raheem Sterling, Marc Cucurella, or Christian Pulisic.

Sterling, who joined Chelsea last summer in a deal worth £47.5 million, has not made a significant impact at the club, leading to speculation about his future. However, it remains to be seen if Chelsea will let him go after just one season.

There is no denying that Mbappé would be a significant upgrade for Chelsea. He scored 41 goals last season and could potentially solve the team’s attacking issues.

Chelsea struggled to score goals last season consistently, and they need a reliable goalscorer. Mbappé’s versatility as both a center-forward and winger would be a bonus for the club.

While Real Madrid has again been linked with Mbappé, it remains to be seen if the French international would be open to a move to Chelsea this summer. The competition for his signature is expected to be intense. If it does happen, it might just be one of the biggest transfers this summer and would increase the demand for tickets for the Blues by at least 10X.

Earlier, when the likes of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang made it to Chelsea, reseller platforms such as seatsnet.com indicated a 5X increase in ticket sales. But Mbappe is going to be different if it goes through.

The experts from seatsnet.com and other resellers indicate that Chelsea ticket demands will be at least 30X higher than usual.

But, the likes of Mbappe in a Blue shirt are marginal.

Moises Caicedo to Chelsea?

According to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge, Chelsea has held internal talks regarding the possibility of signing Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion. The newly appointed head coach, Mauricio Pochettino, is keen on strengthening the squad, and Caicedo is identified as a critical target.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano suggests that Chelsea has already agreed with Caicedo over personal terms. However, finalizing the deal may require patience as Brighton has reportedly set a £100 million price tag on the central midfielder. Despite Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi stating that Caicedo has played his last game for the club, they are determined to retain his services.

Manchester United is also expected to make a formal approach for Caicedo after initiating initial contact. Although Brighton has not received any offers for the player since the summer transfer window opened, Chelsea is anticipated to table a bid in July, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

Bridge confirms Chelsea’s interest in Caicedo and reveals that internal discussions have occurred. While Arsenal also expressed interest in January, Brighton protected their asset by rejecting two bids and securing a new contract for Caicedo. However, De Zerbi’s recent comments suggest that a move away from Brighton is likely.

Brighton holds a strong negotiating position as Caicedo’s contract still has four years remaining, and he earns £ 60,000 per week. Meeting Brighton’s price tag would make Caicedo the second most expensive signing in Chelsea’s history after Enzo Fernandez.

Considering Caicedo’s limited Premier League experience with only 45 appearances, it would be a significant risk for Chelsea.

Nevertheless, Chelsea should strive to reach a compromise with Brighton over Caicedo, as he is considered a promising talent who could strengthen their midfield.

Amadou Onana – done deal?

According to journalist Simon Phillips, Chelsea is expected to intensify its interest in signing Everton midfielder Amadou Onana. Phillips suggests that it is increasingly likely that Chelsea will pursue a move for the 21-year-old, whom they have been monitoring since January. Chelsea appreciates Onana’s physical attributes as a central midfielder.

Everton reportedly demands a fee between £40 million and £50 million for the Belgian midfielder. Onana himself is keen on a potential switch to Chelsea and wants to secure a move away from Goodison Park.

While Brighton’s Moises Caicedo is considered Chelsea’s priority target in midfield, the club is open to adding two new midfielders in the same transfer window. The central midfield area needs strengthening following several departures this summer.

Onana’s potential availability for around £40 million fee makes him an intriguing target for Chelsea. He is a young defensive midfielder with significant potential and showed promise despite Everton’s struggles last season. However, there are doubts about whether he is ready to excel in an elite team. Adding an influential midfielder in the No. 6 position alongside Enzo Fernandez would appeal to Chelsea.

Overall, Amadou Onana represents an exciting option for Chelsea as they look to bolster their midfield options.

Pochettino wants to Santos in front?

According to journalist Matt Law, Chelsea is anticipating the potential inclusion of Andrey Santos in the starting lineup for the upcoming season. Law shared his insights on the ‘London is Blue’ podcast, revealing that the talented teenager is considered one of the primary midfield options for Mauricio Pochettino’s team.

Since arriving at Chelsea in January, Santos has generated significant excitement among the club’s members. Not just on the field but also in the stands, with statistics from seatsnet.com indicating that sales for games where Santos was named saw a slightly higher demand.

Although his stint was short-lived until March, there was plenty to watch and a clear indication of the future of `Chelsea.

Despite the signing of Enzo Fernandez during the same transfer window, insiders have reportedly expressed the belief that Santos may be the club’s most valuable acquisition. This sentiment is further reinforced by the fact that Santos has already debuted for the Brazilian senior national team, illustrating his immense potential.

Having completed his loan spell, Santos is now poised to join the Chelsea squad for preseason training. According to Law, Pochettino and the coaching staff hold Santos in high regard and envision him as an integral part of the first-team setup. There are suggestions that he could contend for a starting position in midfield, underscoring the club’s confidence level in his abilities.

Considering Chelsea’s current shortage of midfield options following the departure of N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic, Santos’s emergence as a potential first-team player is a timely and promising development. Santos could provide a valuable boost to Chelsea’s midfield with his skill set and potential, offering depth and quality in the upcoming season.

Tickets for the preseason tour and friendlies are already out for Chelsea on seatsnet.com
