ARSENAL TRANSFER NEWS: Inler I’ll accept…. Diakhate…. absolutely not!!!!!!

For the past few days, I have been reading transfer news and gossip surrounding Arsenal. In amidst all of the news and gossip surrounding our beloved club, there are two players, who we’ve been linked for years, that grabbed my attention were Gokhan Inler and Pape Diakhate.

Gokhan Inler, is a Swiss international of Turkish origin, he’s a midfielder who plays for Udinese in the Serie A. He is good in both attack and defense, who has had a stuttering start this season, but has now come into the fore with excellent performances with the last being against one of the best sides this season, Napoli. Gokhan Inler is a player who is over 6 feet tall, who has a great long shot, an excellent presence, good passer and all in all an excellent midfielder. Wenger almost snared him a few years ago, and I suggest that he makes another attempt, as he will do well in the Premier league in my opinion and he’s an upgrade to Diaby, Denilson, and also Song. Inler would be an excellent acquisition for the club and if the reported 40 million pound budget is true, then he can be bought. The only problem is that after he didn’t celebrate his goal against Napoli, rumors and many reports are suggesting that Napoli have acquired him, and if it’s true then we lost out on him, but I still suggest that Wenger should try and hijack the deal.

For Pape Diakhate, who is a SenegaIese international who is also over 6 feet tall, I sincerely and really hope that Wenger doesn’t even make an attempt to buy him. The player has been a walking disaster for Lyon this season and he has been a HUGE flop this season. Do you seriously expect that a player who has failed in France AND Ukraine to succeed in the Premier League? The player might be strong physically, but he is slow and can barely make a decent tackle. He is also not primarily a centerback, as his main position is at left back. Pape Diakhate, in my opinion, is not good enough at all to play at a top club like Arsenal….. I believe that Wenger shouldn’t even think about acquiring his services as they are much centerbacks out there, but after he acquired sub-par defenders like Squillaci and Silvestre over the past few years…. I kind of have my doubts.

What do you fellow Gooners think?

Cheers everyone and take care,

The players needed to add value to arsenal current squad with PL experience and who can change the game and at the same time they are available are Given in the Pole position, Tiote to team up in the middle with Alex Song, then Ashley Young to provide competitive edge to Ashavin or Vela in the right flank and then for the out going Bentner we bring in Cisse from Germany this will be a squad to reckon with next season and also to bring in our wonder kid Ryo

Tiote would be a brilliant signing. He’s like lassana diarra but I think he’s a bit more tactically aware. For whatever reason he seems more effective anyway. Trouble is Newcastle are no mugs, and will make sure they get a big fee for him. It seems that the other big PL clubs are aware of him as well (seeing as he seems to own every midfield he comes up against). Would be amazing, but I can’t see it happening to be honest.
Don’t like ashley young, though. He has spurts of good form, but overall is inconsistent and I don’t think he’d add much to the squad. Vela has the same qualities and more, but obviously needs more experience and match time to really show it.
I really like the look of cisse. He seems to have a lot of energy, and we’ve missed that up front since adebayor left.

True. I like Inler a lot, he is class above Song. He was the main man behind that excellent display by Swiss against Spain at the World Cup, I think he was amazing against Xabi, Iniesta and Co and showed his true potential . If we get Inler, Wenger could try Song as CD as he intended long ago. We would have much more flexibility in defence then. As for price – we could fund it by selling Diaby and Denilson, and we will not lose much, if anything. But if you ask me what one big transfer I would like to see this summer, I would say – Schweinsteiger. Just imagine this midfield of Schweinsteiger, Wilshere, Fabregas and Nasri.

I believe the defensive midfield role is our main problem.

Song is good but he sometimes gives the ball away too much or fouls too much, this means that our defence is on constant edge because they are constantly under attack with our players loosing the ball in midfield.

I would think with Vermealen back and a fully fit Koscielny the defence would improve. I think Clichy can go if he likes as he adds nothing to the team. Maybe we need a backup CB instead of Squillaci.

Would keep Song on the bench and rotate him for some matches. I think Inler or Scott Parker would be an excellent addition to Arsenal’s midfield.

The last player we need is a fox in the box, to come on and just put the ball in the net, as neither Chamak or Bendtner are not inpact subs.

    So I think:

    1. A new LB
    2. Mayb a back up CB
    3. A better Defensive Mid
    4. A young fox in the box (maybe Afobe?)

I disagree on song. The trouble is wenger wants to show how good he is going forward, and gives him more freedom than he should. Last year he played more often as a fixed DM, and was great. We just need someone who can cover him, although IMO diaby is getting there.

lets be serious. Our defense lets us down more than our strikers. Sagna can be amazing but when he messes up he just shrugs and tries to blame others. Even back when we had both Gallas and Verm- we still conceded sloppy goals and to say that when Verm comes back things’ll change is a joke. It’ll change when we bring in our own JOHN TERRY someone willing to throw EVERYTHING he has in to the pot. Now I hate the ground Terry walks on, but you cant argue- he’s a cracking CB. Thats what we need. Possibly x2, knowing our injury record! Sorry to say it but Clichy too, as much as sometimes he can be great- Far too often he’s guilty of ball watching. the game again’st West Brom showed it best when he allowed both odimwingie and Thomas to drift in behind him and score. Just remebering it makes me think- IDIOT.
But it would never happen. only way it’d happen is if one of other players left- even then nothings certain.
my opinion- 1 CB, someone strong enough to boss em and keep em in check and a new CF. if we’ve got the money then why not Benzema?? Cavani? HULK? Falcoa? they’re all in the 25-30m bracket… and its not like we cant afford it anymore…

Thanks everyone for commenting….. interesting comments and we seem to be in agreement that a defender and a holding midfielder is our main priorities. I have a question for all you fellow Gooners, who is or are your dream signings? Mine personally will be Giorgio Chiellini, he’s tough, passionate, excellent tackler, great leader and a world-class defender. He might be difficult to acquire, but with Juventus unlikely to qualify to the Champions League and struggling financially….. he might be acquired at the right price.

Also…. what about acquiring a left winger? I noticed that we don’t have a naturally left-footed winger… so for that matter I suggest PSV’s Balasz Dzuzdzak (I don’t know if I spelt his name correctly) who has been excellent this season.

What do you fellow Gooners think? Who do you want Wenger to sign?

    Cheers and take care everyone,

P.S. The Spuds won’t qualify to the Champions League next season.

Firstly, Arsenal need to release atleast 10 loanees or more. Clearly most of them arent going to make it.

    Promote to 1st team:

    Scotty Parker
    Papiss Cisse
    Eden Hazard

Cesc – assuming he’s leaving after putting his house up for grabs(?) = Afellay + £30mill in return please!

Clichy – Is he leaving or not? Rather see him leave and have Baines as a rolemodel for Gibbs.

    Next seasons wishes:

    Sagna Djorou Verm Baines
    Parker Wilshere
    Walcott Afellay Nasri

Subs: Fabianski, Gibbs, Lansbury, Ramsey, Koscielny, Arshavin, Hazard, Song, Diaby, Cisse, Chamakh(?), Vela(?), Jenkinson(?), Miyaichi(?)

Think to have an english core in the team again!! Its needed, thats for sure..

Let’s stop playing Football Manager and get real.We may see a maximum of six leave next season. Probably Eboue,Squillaci (please),Denilson or Diaby(we won’t lose both)Bendtner,Rosicky and Almunia. We will of course have several “new signings”.Some of the names will be familiar–Ramsey,Frimpong and Lansbury (therefore don’t expect a major midfield signing unless we lose Fabregas). We will also probably promote JET and Vermaelen hopefully will return. We may also see Botelho come in (if so Traore will also be released) and hopefully we’ll be allowed to play Miyachi.
    So who comes in?
No experienced goalie unless he’s a veteran to be back-up. We already have signed Jenkinson and if we keep Clichy,we may only sign a centre half (I think Miquel may go on loan).Likely identity is Sakho or Cahill-whoever’s cheapest(this is Wenger we are talking about). We may sign a striker if Bendtner goes(you can’t keep the world’s best player on the bench forever). My suggestion will be Elmander cos he’s free or Gameiro because he isn’t that well known and therefore cheaper(we may loan Coquelin to LOrient for another season to reduce the price). So no big star then? If we do sign anyone stellar it will be Eden Hazard if we can beat off the competition-also we may go for Benzema if we dodge Gameiro. But don’t get your hopes of Monopoly money signings up..Wenger will focus on re-signing Nasri and retaining Fabregas (although if the price gets to £50 million he will bite Barca’s hand off).Don’t be surprised if we get Hleb in part-exchange!(that was a joke but the more I think about it…)

I dont understand one thing.why are fans calling for Chamakh to be sold.Has everyone forgotten his contribution at the beginning of the season when RVP was injured.
Bendtner, diaby, denilson arent gud enuf for arsenal anymore. They shud be sold.Arshavin shudn’t be sold for one season atleast.
bring in an italian defender(they are gud at defending).
Benzema shud be brought into the squad.he will be a great addition.Hugo loris cud be the GK(i heard he is gud)
