Everton have expressed interest in signing highly rated Spanish fullback Hector Fort from Barcelona this summer, according to TEAMtalk.
Fort has emerged as another exciting product of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy. After beginning his youth career with PB Anguera, the fullback moved to Barcelona in 2013 and spent more than a decade within the club’s system, gradually working his way through the various age groups.
His progression eventually earned him a place around the senior setup at the beginning of the 2023/24 campaign, with his debut coming in the 3-2 UEFA Champions League win over Royal Antwerp on December 13 2023, and he has gone on to accumulate 30 first-team appearances.
The 20-year-old spent the 2025/26 season on loan at Elche, where he made 17 appearances and recorded five goal contributions.
While he is back training with the first team, uncertainties remain over his future, with TEAMtalk reporting that Barcelona have informed Fort that he can depart the club this summer, leading to interest from several clubs.
Exciting fullback
One of the clubs looking to sign him is Everton, according to the report, which claims that the Toffees are looking to take advantage of his situation at Camp Nou.
The Merseyside club are keen on signing the Spanish fullback on a permanent transfer, having been made aware of Barcelona’s intention to sell him this summer, according to the report.
However, Everton are set to face stern competition from several clubs, as the report adds that Fulham, Inter Milan, and Racing Santander have also expressed interest in the exciting 6ft 1in defensive gem.
Fort’s quality on the ball is arguably the most eye-catching aspect of his game. While representing Elche last season, he averaged 1.49 completed dribbles per match and recorded a 57% success rate with his long-range passes, showing that he can help move possession forward from deeper areas.
There was also little indication that his attacking contribution compromised his defensive duties. The 20-year-old won five duels and made slightly more than two tackles per 90 minutes last term. Those figures may not be particularly remarkable, but there’s no doubt about his commitment.
Despite Barcelona’s willingness to sell Fort, Everton will need to submit a considerable offer, as the Spanish champions are likely to demand a fee above his £12m Transfermarkt valuation.
