Tottenham Hotspur have significantly rebuilt their squad in the ongoing transfer window but with three weeks still to go until Deadline Day, Roberto De Zerbi is keen on making more additions, especially in his offensive department.
Football Insider has reported that the Lilywhites are looking to sign a number nine with AS Monaco marksman Folarin Balogun emerging as a potential option for them after a decent World Cup with the USMNT and productive campaign on the club level.
He scored 19 goals and provided five assists in all competitions in 2025/26 and is valued at £43 million on Transfermarkt, with Monaco believed to be open to sanctioning the forward’s exit for the right price, the source has added.
Top quality purchase for Spurs
Over much of the previous season, Tottenham Hotspur had to deal with persistent injuries and inconsistent fitness surrounding both their number nines, Dominic Solanke and Richarlison, which impacted the team’s output in the final third.
AS Monaco’s Folarin Balogun promises to be a brilliant acquisition for the Lilywhites. As he enters the last two years of his contract with the Ligue 1 side, there will be room for negotiating his price tag as Monaco will look to lose him for cheap in 2027.
Balogun’s excellent positioning up top, sharp movement in the box and ability to finish chances effectively from close range would make him an ideal option for Spurs in the box after they have already invested in upping their quality in midfield.
The 25-year-old spent his youth career at Arsenal and has a year on loan at Middlesbrough under his belt, so all things point towards him having a sound understanding of English football and consequently settling in well in the Premier League.
Considering Tottenham will offer the player the opportunity to play in a much superior league and as a starting player, personal terms are unlikely to be a problem and therefore, a transfer for Balogun could materialise in the near future without many issues.
