Man Utd eye move to sign David Raum as Hall alternative

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing RB Leipzig star David Raum as a Lewis Hall alternative, as per TEAMtalk.
Since moving to Red Bull Arena from TSG Hoffenheim back in 2022, the 28-year-old has established himself as a key starter, helping his side win a couple of domestic cup competitions.
He showed glimpses of his qualities last campaign, scoring three goals and registering nine assists in 34 appearances across all competitions. Moreover, he helped his side keep eight clean sheets.
Having impressed in the Bundesliga, the defender secured his place in Germany’s World Cup squad. However, Julian Nagelsmann used him as a backup option.
Now, TEAMtalk claim that after bolstering the midfield department, Man Utd are keen on signing a new left-back to support Luke Shaw and have identified Hall as the primary target.
However, with his existing deal set to run until 2029, Newcastle United have no intention of letting him leave, having already allowed Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes to leave this summer.
Therefore, United have decided to shift focus to alternative options and have earmarked Raum as a serious option. He has a £34m release clause in his current contract but has entered the final 12 months of his current deal.

So, the report state that Leipzig might be open to cashing-in on him for less than £30m if an agreement regarding an extension can’t be reached over the coming days.
Raum previously held talks with United and is ready to move to Old Trafford this summer. However, United have also shortlisted younger options such as Club Brugge’s Joaquin Seys, Bournemouth’s Adrian Truffert and Spanish youth star Jorge Salinas of Racing Santander.
TEAMtalk claim that United were also interested in Alejandro Balde and Nathaniel Brown. However, the German has decided to join Bayern Munich, while Michael Carrick’s side are unlikely to make a move for Balde due to his recent fitness problems.
Raum is a talented player and is currently at the prime stage of his career. Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Man Utd should they eventually opt to secure his services this summer.
