Everton are reportedly interested in signing Crystal Palace defender Daniel Muñoz, as per Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth.

Since moving to Selhurst Park from Belgian side KRC Genk, the 30-year-old has enjoyed great success in recent years, winning the FA Cup, Conference League and Community Shield.

Last season, the Colombian showcased his qualities, scoring five goals and registering four assists in 44 appearances across all competitions. Moreover, he helped his side keep 13 clean sheets.

Having proven his worth in the English top-flight, Muñoz has established himself as a key starter in Colombia’s national team’s first XI.

Now, on X, Sheth reports that Everton are interested in signing Muñoz as David Moyes is keen on reinforcing the right-back position this summer.

The South American has entered the final two years of his current contract, and Crystal Palace have an option to extend the deal for a year further. So, they aren’t in any rush to sell him, with the player valued at around £19m by Transfermarkt.

Sheth wrote:

“Everton interested in Crystal Palace defender Daniel Munoz. David Moyes in the market to sign a right-back this summer. Munoz has 2 years left on his contract with Palace holding the option for a further year.”

Muñoz to Everton

However, Crystal Palace has recently bolstered the RWB position by purchasing Anan Khalaili from Union Saint-Gilloise.

Muñoz has mainly featured as an RWB at Selhurst Park but plays as a traditional RB for Colombia. He is quick, strong, can create opportunities for the attackers, and has the ability to chip in with some important goals.

Moreover, the Crystal Palace star reads the game well and is efficient in defensive contributions. He is an experienced Premier League-proven player and could be a shrewd acquisition for Everton should they purchase him.

Following Seamus Coleman’s departure, the Toffees currently have Jake O’Brien and Nathan Patterson as options to deploy in the right-back position.

However, Patterson has had numerous fitness problems over the years, while O’Brien is a centre-back by trait. So, Everton could do with signing a new RB.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Merseyside club eventually make a concrete approach to secure Muñoz’s services before the end of this transfer window.
