Tottenham Hotspur keeping tabs on Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson over possible summer move

Tottenham Hotspur are now looking to revamp their attack and Roberto De Zerbi is interested in bringing in a consistent source of goals as Dominic Solanke and Richarlison were far from impressive last season.
Richarlison’s future at Spurs remains unclear despite the Brazilian playing a key role in their pre-season fixtures, whereas AS Monaco star Folarin Balogun is the club’s chief target with a transfer likely to materialise for the American international.
Ekrem Konur has reported that in addition to Balogun, Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on signing Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson but face a battle with Aston Villa in their attempt to bring in the player.
He is unlikely to be a part of the Blues’ plans this season and is on Xabi Alonso’s chopping blocks. As per the journalist, the former Villarreal centre forward is valued at £51 million having done decently on loan at Bayern Munich last season.
Jackson an important addition for Spurs
Xavi Simons’ role in Roberto De Zerbi’s setup will be interesting to see but that’s not to say Tottenham Hotspur don’t require a player of Nicolas Jackson’s calibre after he returned 11 goals and four assists in all competitions at Bayern Munich last year.
Jackson is a very good target man, who is capable of physically exploiting his opponents to get onto the end of chances in the box, whilst also being an aerial threat thanks to a height of over six feet. He can be lacklustre at times but produces good numbers.
Though he is naturally a striker, the 26-year-old contributes to the overall build-up as he is comfortable dropping deep to collect the ball and link up with wingers. His hold-up play and dribbling are key attributes which make him a well-rounded forward.
After playing decently in the Premier League for Chelsea, Nicolas Jackson is the type of player Roberto De Zerbi can get the best out of and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham Hotspur are willing to match his £51 million asking price this summer.
