Tottenham urged to sign Man Utd’s Marcus Rashford

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O’Hara has urged his old club to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.

Having endured a dire campaign last term, the Lilywhites bolstered the defence and midfield departments quickly in this transfer window. They signed Andrew Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke to solidify their leaky defence.

On the other hand, Spurs have purchased Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali from West Ham United and Newcastle United respectively for big fees to upgrade the engine room.

They are said to be keen on reinforcing the frontline as well, with Dejan Kulusevski, Wilson Odobert and Mohammed Kudus all struggling with fitness problems.

Manchester City forward Savinho and Liverpool star Cody Gakpo have been linked with a move, but Tottenham haven’t been able to sign either of them yet, with the new campaign just a week away.

Now, speaking on Sky Sports’ Tottenham summer special podcast, O’Hara has urged Spurs to reinforce the left flank by purchasing Rashford, as he is a ‘brilliant’ player.

The Englishman is currently in a position where he has a point to prove and is ‘still one of the best players around’.

Rashford to Tottenham

O’Hara said:

“I just don’t know why we[Tottenham] don’t go for Marcus Rashford. I really think that Spurs should just go, how much do you want? How much can we get him for? I know he’s on £350,000 a week, and obviously Spurs potentially can’t afford that, but he’s such a brilliant player.

“If you get him at it with a point to prove, I just think he’s still one of the best players around. If he stays at Man Utd, I think he’ll play, so I just don’t know why we’ve not been interested in him.”

After joining Barcelona on loan last summer, Rashford mainly played as Raphinha’s deputy. Still, he showed glimpses of his qualities, scoring 14 goals and registering 11 assists in 26 starts across all competitions.

Having proven his worth in the Spanish top-flight, the 28-year-old secured his place in England’s World Cup squad, helping his country finish third in this competition.

Rashford is a top-class player and is currently at the prime stage of his career. Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Tottenham should they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually listen to O’Hara’s advice and make a move for the Man Utd man before the end of this transfer window.
