Tottenham & Man Utd hold discussion to sign Osimhen

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United have reportedly held discussions over a deal to sign Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen, as per TEAMtalk.

The Lilywhites currently have Dominic Solanke and Richarlison as options to deploy in the centre-forward position. They signed Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain on loan last summer to provide cover in the attack as they qualified for the Champions League last term.

However, Spurs won’t be playing European football next season and decided not to purchase the Frenchman permanently. He has now joined Italian giants Juventus.

Considering Tottenham won’t be facing a demanding fixture schedule this season, Richarlison and Solanke are enough. However, Solanke has struggled to showcase his best since joining from AFC Bournemouth and had fitness problems last term.

Meanwhile, although Richarlison was Tottenham’s highest scorer last season, he has entered the final year of his current contract. So, his long-term future isn’t secured at the moment.

Now, TEAMtalk claim that Tottenham are interested in signing a new striker and have held internal discussions over a deal to sign Osimhen. Apart from the Lilywhites, Man Utd and Arsenal have also held internal discussions to sign him.

However, his salary demand has put off the potential suitors, while Galatasaray have no intention of letting him leave and would only change their stance should they receive a lucrative proposal. The Turkish giants have already rejected a sizable offer from Al-Hilal for Osimhen in recent days.

The report state that Man Utd are unlikely to formalise their interest in signing the Nigerian international, but Tottenham have been keeping a close eye on his situation, with the player keen on a move to the Premier League.

Osimhen, valued at around £64m by Transfermarkt, is a highly talented striker. He is quick, strong, good in the air, and efficient in finishing off his chances. He has even showcased his productivity in the Super Lig in recent years.

Man Utd currently have Benjamin Sesko and Joshua Zirkzee as options to deploy in the striker position. Moreover, Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Marcus Rashford can provide cover in this position if needed. So, United don’t need to add further depth to this position unless anyone leaves.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure Osimhen’s services before the end of this transfer window.
