Arsenal send fresh enquiry over possible summer transfer for Juventus star Kenan Yildiz
Arsenal started the season on a positive note last weekend with a convincing 3-0 win over Manchester City in the FA Community Shield. New signing Christos Tzolis impressed with two assists after he was handed a start.
Despite a fast start to life with the Gunners, the club is still keen on the addition of a new left winger and as per Graeme Bailey, Arsenal recently launched fresh enquiries to determine Juventus’ stance on a possible transfer for Kenan Yildiz.
Juventus have the Turkish international firmly within their plans, according to the journalist, and he is deemed as an untouchable member of their squad but Arsenal could leverage the Bianconeri’s interest in Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli to do a deal.
Earlier in the year, Yildiz was believed to have been slapped with a £105 million price tag and if there is the possibility of him joining the defending Premier League champions this summer, it is fair to think Arsenal would need to pay a nine-figure sum.
Yildiz interest may have come too late
While Arsenal had been linked with Kenan Yildiz for large parts of the summer, they did not make a strong attempt to materialise their interest in the 21-year-old and with only two weeks to go until the transfer window ends, it may be too late to sign him.
Yildiz is a vital part of Juventus’ plans and as they bid to return to the Champions League and win some silverware next season, the young winger will remain central to their plans. However, the player might yet be able to push for a swoop to London.
Considering Juventus are not playing in next season’s European Cup and Arsenal can offer the player a better wage and sporting project, Yildiz would need to push for an exit if he is attracted by the proposition of joining the Gunners.
Mikel Arteta’s side has the funds ready to execute a transfer but it would largely depend on how intent Yildiz is on the move. Whether he pushes to pursue a challenge in the Premier League or is happy to remain in Turin for another year would be interesting to see.
