Tottenham Hotspur now keen on signing Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson

Tottenham Hotspur remain keen on rebuilding their offensive department this transfer window, and while they are set to sign Manchester City duo Omar Marmoush and Savinho, Roberto De Zerbi wants more depth and quality in the final third.

Football Fancast has reported that Spurs are now looking to sign Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson, who isn’t part of Xabi Alonso’s plans at the club. Aston Villa are also interested in signing the former Villarreal star with Ollie Watkins likely to depart.

Chelsea value Jackson at £65 million, as per the source, but with the 24-year-old excluded from their first-team setup and the transfer window approaching its end, there may be some room for negotiation over his asking price.

Jackson spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich and contributed to 15 goals in all competitions, and did decently for Chelsea in pre-season earlier this summer, so interest in his services from within the Premier League is not a surprise.

Jackson’s signing may hinge on player exits

Once they officially announce the signings of Omar Marmoush and Savinho, Tottenham Hotspur will have a fairly full squad and they may need to think about selling some players before they can entertain thoughts of signing Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea.

Richarlison has been among those linked with departing Hotspur Way in recent weeks but has yet to find a suitor, so it remains to be seen what comes of his future before the Lilywhites can eventually turn their focus towards more attacking reinforcements.

Having said that, Jackson would be an excellent addition to their setup. He uses his physicality to beat defenders in the box and get into scoring positions, possesses aerial threat and finishes well from close range, while pressing high up without the ball too.

Nicolas Jackson is also comfortably dropping deep to collect the ball in midfield and leverage his hold-up play to link with teammates, whereas his ability to create chances by adapting to a left winger’s role would give Spurs a lot of tactical flexibility.

It will be interesting to see what comes of Jackson’s future in the few days that remain in this summer’s transfer window.
