Liverpool are reportedly holding ‘discussions’ over a deal to sign Crystal Palace forward Ismaila Sarr, as per transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Since moving to Selhurst Park from Olympique de Marseille a couple of years ago, the 28-year-old has enjoyed great success, winning an FA Cup, a Conference League and the Community Shield.
The forward even showcased his productivity last campaign, scoring 21 goals and registering a solitary assist in 43 appearances across all competitions.
Having proven his worth in club football, Sarr has established himself as a key member of the Senegal national team.
Now, on X, Romano states that Liverpool have identified Sarr as a serious target to replace Cody Gakpo if the Dutchman joins Manchester City before tomorrow’s deadline.
The Merseyside club have already seen their opening bid for the African rejected by the Eagles. Still, they haven’t given up hope of finalising the operation and remain in ‘discussions’.
Sarr is ready to move to Anfield, but the South London club are reluctant to let him leave late in this window and have already rejected two proposals from Galatasaray alongside the Liverpool one.

“Ismaila Sarr remains a target for Liverpool as new winger to proceed with Gakpo sale to Manchester City. Discussions taking place after bid rejected earlier this week, as exclusively revealed. Sarr wants LFC move. Palace rejected 2 bids from Galatasaray, 1 from Liverpool.”
Sarr, standing at 6ft 1in tall, is a versatile right-footed forward. He is a right-winger by trait but can provide cover in the striker position if needed.
He is quick, strong, good in the air, and works hard without possession. The 28-year-old has shown glimpses of his qualities in the Premier League in recent years and is currently at the prime stage of his career.
Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Liverpool should they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Merseyside club eventually manage to reinforce the frontline by purchasing Sarr before the end of this transfer window.
Meanwhile, following a 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest last weekend, the Anfield club are set to face Ipswich Town in the Premier League on Friday night before starting the Champions League campaign against Atletico Madrid.
