Manchester United set to have another attempt at Lewis Hall signing in 2027

Man Utd's private Lewis Hall transfer plan as Newcastle confirm price tag - The Mirror

Manchester United did well to rebuild their midfield this summer with Andrey Santos, Carlos Baleba and Youri Tielemans joining them, but another area of concern – left back – was overlooked yet again, leaving Michael Carrick with only Luke Shaw.

Patrick Dorgu is capable of playing in a more defensive position but his attributes are best leveraged higher up the pitch, so it is expected that the Red Devils will resume their search of a long-term option on the left side of the back four as soon as 2027 starts.

Graeme Bailey has reported that Man United are set to renew their attempt of signing Newcastle United left back Lewis Hall. The Magpies were reluctant in letting him leave this summer, and as per Daily Mail, they slapped him with a £75 million price tag.

As far as Hall is concerned, it is believed that he wishes to join Man United, but Newcastle have him firmly within their plans and hope to tie him down to a contract extension, whilst hoping Matthias Jaissle can convince him of the club’s sporting project.

Hall could become available next summer

Matthias Jaissle has made a strong start to life at Newcastle United, holding Liverpool to a 2-2 draw and beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in his first couple of Premier League games, in spite of replacing Eddie Howe after several key departures.

While they may not be favourites to qualify for next season’s Champions League, the Magpies can definitely make a strong push for a spot in the Europa League or the Conference League, and Lewis Hall will be central to their ambitions of doing so.

Having said that, it is fair to believe that Manchester United will stand little chance of acquiring the 22-year-old in the January transfer window but next summer could be a better time to sign him, more so if Newcastle don’t make the European competitions again.

It remains to be seen whether Man United are prepared to wait for nearly 12 more months before signing a new left back or have other options on their shortlist heading into January.
