‘What a player’: Szoboszlai praises Mac Allister after Liverpool win

Liverpool star Dominik Szoboszlai heaped praise on midfielder Alexis Mac Allister following the club’s 2-0 Premier League win over Ipswich Town on Friday night.

The Merseyside giants travelled to Portman Road yesterday. They failed to beat Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest in their first two matches of the league season but made amends with a convincing win over newly promoted Ipswich.

Alexander Isak was the stand-out player, scoring a quick-fire brace in the opening 10 minutes. Cody Gakpo was the creator for both of the Swede’s goals. The Dutchman has made a bright start to the campaign.

Alongside the duo, many other players stepped up against the Tractor Boys. Mac Allister produced a much-improved midfield showing, and manager Andoni Araola personally said that he played ‘very well‘ yesterday.

After the game, Mac Allister wrote on Instagram that it was an important three points on the road for Liverpool and looked forward to seeing the fans at Anfield in the Champions League opener against Atletico Madrid.

He posted: “Three important points on the road. It’ll be nice to see you again for another UCL night at Anfield.”

Several Liverpool stars responded to the post, including Szoboszlai, who commented ‘What a player’.

Mac Allister had a good outing as the left-sided central midfielder. The £35 million signing completed 88% of his passes against the Tractor Boys. He also won 3 ground duels alongside 2 tackles and 5 ball recoveries.

The 27-year-old was only involved in the final pre-season game against Como this summer after reaching the World Cup final with Argentina in mid-July. He now appears to be getting up to speed ahead of a crucial schedule.

With the change of the international calendar, Liverpool have four more matches in all competitions before a three-week international break. Next up, the Reds have a Champions League clash against Atletico on Wednesday.

Diego Simeone’s side have been a bogey club for the Anfield giants in the past, but Liverpool have won their last three meetings and should fancy their chances of another victory to start the league phase of the European competition.
