Tottenham Hotspur open to signing Mykhailo Mudryk on permanent deal next year

Mudryk joins Tottenham on season-long loan from Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur are winless in their first three games of the Premier League season despite making massive investments in the recent summer transfer window, with new as well as old signings failing to yield the necessary results.

Mathys Tel’s form in recent fixtures has been criticised more than the rest of his teammates but with Spurs missing out on signing Cody Gakpo and Iliman Ndiaye in the last week of the transfer window, they have little quality and depth on the left flank.

Football Insider has reported that Tottenham Hotspur are open to signing Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk on a permanent transfer next year if he impresses on loan, having joined on an initial 12-month deal from the Blues.

He was banned from professional football for a doping-related offence almost two years ago and made his first competitive appearance for Spurs in their clash against Nottingham Forest last weekend as he hopes to regain his feet.

Mudryk not worth the investment

After serving a significant period on the sidelines, Mykhailo Mudryk faces an uphill battle in an attempt to reignite his career on the highest level of football but at 25, it is debatable how much value he would add to Tottenham Hotspur.

It would require the Ukrainian international several months to capture his form and flow, and for a player who had anyways underperformed in the Premier League, a permanent transfer to Tottenham would make little sense for the Lilywhites.

Chelsea will need to be compensated with £75 million for his services and at that much price, Spurs would be able to secure a much better winger from the transfer market and very possibly a player with more consistent returns up top.

Tottenham host Everton in their Premier League fixture on matchday five and it will be interesting to see if Mykhailo Mudryk gets more minutes or is as impactful up top as Spurs need him to be.
