Man Utd laying groundwork to sign Adrien Truffert

According to Teamtalk, Manchester United have their sights set on signing Bournemouth defender Adrien Truffert in either January or next summer.

The Red Devils were widely fancied to sign a new left-back during the recent transfer window, but were unable to find a proper solution.

As a result, there is a genuine lack of quality depth in the position. Luke Shaw is no longer in his prime at 31 and could be on his way out when his contract expires in June 2027.

Patrick Dorgu is the immediate deputy for the left-back role, but the Danish ace has been defensively vulnerable and looks more comfortable while playing as a left winger for United.

Hence, there is room for a marquee signing in the department, and Teamtalk claim that the focus has turned to Truffert after Lewis Hall committed his future to Newcastle United.

Hall has been a long-term target for the Mancunian giants, but the 22-year-old recently put pen to paper on a long-term deal at the Magpies which does not include a release clause.

Hence, United are prepared to look elsewhere. They are laying the ground work to sign Truffert in January. They could also move for him next summer if a winter deal is impossible.

The Frenchman could be prised away from Bournemouth for £60 million, as per Teamtalk.

Quality

The 24-year-old signed for the Cherries from Rennes last year and had a solid debut campaign with 1 goal and 5 assists from 38 league appearances. Truffert impressed with his strong defensive attributes as well as overlapping runs.

He won almost 6 duels per league game alongside 3 tackles and 5 recoveries. The France international was likewise solid with his distribution. He completed 34 passes per outing with an average of almost one accurate cross.

Truffert has proved a quality acquisition for Bournemouth in a short space of time and he could seek a bigger challenge soon. The Cherries have built their reputation as a selling club for the right price. Truffert and Alex Scott could be the next pair to leave.

With no release clause in Truffert’s contract, it appears difficult for the Red Devils to persuade Bournemouth to sell at the start of the year, but a deal could definitely be negotiated during the 2027 summer transfer window for a suitable package.
