Tottenham Hotspur reportedly remain keen on signing Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White, as per TEAMtalk.
Since moving to the City Ground from Wolverhampton Wanderers back in 2022, the 26-year-old has established himself as an undisputed starter.
Last season, the midfielder showcased his productivity, scoring 18 goals and registering seven assists in 53 appearances across all competitions.
Gibbs-White has even enjoyed a promising start this campaign, scoring a solitary goal and notching up two assists in four Premier League appearances.
Now, TEAMtalk claim that Tottenham came very close to signing Gibbs-White last summer, but the Tricky Trees eventually managed to keep hold of him by tying him down to a fresh term.
Still, Spurs remain keen on purchasing him and are considering making a move next year. Gibbs-White is valued at around £60m by Transfermarkt and has entered the final two years of his current contract.
However, the report state that Nottingham Forest have no intention of letting him leave, having sold Elliot Anderson to Manchester City this summer, and are planning to extend his current deal.
Gibbs-White to Tottenham
Gibbs-White is a creative midfielder by trait but can provide cover in the box-to-box role if needed. Moreover, he can be deployed on the flanks.
The Englishman is dynamic, has an eye for long-range passing, is efficient at finishing off his chances, can create opportunities for the attackers, and works hard without possession.
Gibbs-White is a Premier League-proven player and is currently at the prime stage of his career. Therefore, he would be a great coup for Tottenham should they purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services in January or next summer.
Meanwhile, Tottenham currently have James Maddison, Xavi Simons and Conor Gallagher as options to deploy in the creative midfield positions. However, Simons has been out injured over the last few months, while Maddison has just returned from a serious knee problem.
As a result, he hasn’t been able to play a full 90 minutes this season. Mohammed Kudus can also provide cover in the CAM role if needed, but is more comfortable on the flanks.
