Liverpool showing genuine interest in signing Rayan

Rayan bournemouth

Liverpool are reportedly showing genuine interest in signing AFC Bournemouth forward Rayan, as per ESPN Brazil journalist Bruno Andrade.

After letting Mohamed Salah leave as a free agent, the Reds have decided to upgrade the flanks by purchasing Victor Muñoz and Bradley Barcola from Osasuna and Paris Saint-Germain, respectively, this summer.

Moreover, Andoni Iraola currently has Cody Gakpo and Rio Ngumoha as options to deploy on the flanks. However, none of them are natural right-wingers.

The Spanish boss has used Barcola, Gakpo and Ngumoha on the right side this season, but all of them are more comfortable on the opposite side. Muñoz previously played on the right for Osasuna but is still very young and isn’t a like-for-like replacement for Salah.

As a result, it appears the Reds are considering signing a new left-footed right-winger. Now, on ESPN Brazil’s YouTube channel, Andrade reports that Liverpool are showing genuine interest in Rayan but haven’t made a concrete approach yet.

Apart from the Merseyside club, several major European clubs are also plotting a swoop for him, with the player’s £130m release clause set to become active next year.

The journalist further claims that with the player’s existing deal set to run until 2030, Bournemouth don’t want to part ways with him and will only allow him to leave if his potential suitors, such as Liverpool, trigger his release clause.

Rayan to Liverpool

Rayan is a 6ft 1in tall left-footed right-winger by trait but can provide cover centrally if needed. He is quick, strong, good in the air, technically sound, and can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas.

Moreover, he is efficient in creating opportunities for fellow attackers. Rayan showed glimpses of his qualities in the Premier League last term after joining from Vasco da Gama, making seven goal contributions.

However, he has started the new season slowly, failing to put his name on the scoresheet in the league yet. Nevertheless, the 20-year-old is a talented player and possesses high potential.

Therefore, he would be a great coup for Liverpool with a view to the long-term future should they eventually manage to lure him to Anfield in January or next summer.
