Everton plotting January transfer for Juventus midfielder Teun Koopmeiners

Everton have made an unbeaten start to the Premier League season five matches in and will be looking to build on their strong form at the start of the campaign after the international break as they chase a European spot in the standings.
Off the back of some decent performances, David Moyes is expected to continue rebuilding his squad during the January transfer window with the Toffees likely to want different profiles and better squad depth.
Football Insider has reported that Everton are interested in signing Teun Koopmeiners from Juventus. The midfielder has played only 131 minutes this season and the Bianconeri are prepared to let him depart the club as early as in the winter.
He is valued at £12 million on Transfermarkt and given his sporadic role with the Serie A giants, it is unlikely he will cost much more. Juventus, meanwhile, are also prepared to sanction a loan move, according to the source.
Solid signing for Everton
David Moyes is not expected to view a midfield rebuild as one of his top priorities for January as Hayden Hackney, James Garden and Harrison Armstrong have performed well, and Christian Norgaard will also be fully fit and available for selection soon.
With that said, Teun Koopmeiners’ addition to the squad will be a valuable transfer anyways as the Dutch international is a well-rounded central midfielder, who is able to impact games defensively as well as offensively.
Koopmeiners has strong game awareness, positions himself intelligently in the middle of the park to regain possession and also has a strong work-rate when pressing the opposition. His physical prowess helps him compete in one-on-one situations too.
In possession, Koopmeiners has strong close control and is able to effectively break the opposition’s lines to create chances for the forwards. He also has a brilliant long shot and delivers accurately from set-pieces, thus being a different profile for Everton.
Given that his asking price is not expected to be very cheap, it will be interesting to see if Everton are prepared to permanently materialise their interest in Koopmeiners or prefer a loan to assess the player’s suitability in their setup.
