Arsenal join Liverpool in race to sign Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise

Is Olise heading toward a Ballon d'Or? | Bavarian Football Works

Arsenal continued their strong start to the season in their Champions League outing this week, bagging their second win in as many matches in the competition, with a 3-0 success over Lille at the Emirates Stadium.

In the Premier League as well, the Gunners have positively begun their title defence with five wins in six fixtures so far but their offensive output remains a cause for concern, more so with Bukayo Saka’s form significantly regressing this year.

Fichajes has reported that Arsenal are prepared to resolve the issue by entering the transfer market for a right winger and have identified Bayern Munich star Michael Olise, who is valued at £152 million, as a possible acquisition.

Liverpool are also keen on signing the French international. Having surpassed the £100 million figure on a handful of attacking reinforcements in the last 12 months or so, the Reds could set up a very lethal offensive department with Olise’s purchase.

Olise could consider PL switch next summer

Michael Olise has a contract with Bayern Munich until June 2029 and although their intention is to prolong his stay at the Allianz Arena sooner rather than later, they are under no pressure to sell him amidst interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.

However, the former Crystal Palace forward could entertain thoughts of returning to England next year, where he may feel he has unfinished business having individually done a superb job but failing to add any collective accolades under his belt.

Both, Arsenal and Liverpool will have significantly rebuilt their flanks with one of the world’s best players with his acquisition. As it stands, however, it is fair to believe Andoni Iraola’s side could trump the Gunners to the 25-year-old’s signing next year.

Earlier in 2026, Bukayo Saka renewed his contract at Arsenal and while his form lately has been subpar, he is one of the club’s most crucial long-term stars. Thus, he will have a long rope to prove himself and instead, a left winger may be signed as the position needs rebuilding too.

From Liverpool’s perspective, Olise would be a direct replacement for Mohamed Salah. His numbers in past seasons and his form this year, which has seen him bag eight goals and four assists already, speak volumes about how influential the winger can be.

Given that they have been bold with their investments lately, it would not be a surprise if Liverpool are prepared to invest in another lucrative signing next summer and trumping what may quite possibly be just exploratory interest from Arsenal.
